The one thing that I'm not quite satisfied with is the voices for the Charr. Most are fine, but the female voices for the Charr? Really? Sounds 120% human.
I think its pretty hard to make a feline female voice without looking bad or fake
But that not annoyed me too much, what surprised me was the asura voice, it was very grave for his size lol.

it could be that they are only placeholder voices for now.

It looks very polished already. The sound effects are very good. Animations could use a little work, but there's still time to polish those before release. I really like the intro and how it's presented. Like you're playing out your "story".
I'm pretty sure I'll be trying this game out in the future.

So the question I have, and this is obviously very important, is "will rangers be able to train new and different animals?"
For example, polar bears, wolves, lions and tigers?
I assume they can, but I have not seen anything on it, though admittedly I haven't done that much research on the topic.

The game is atleast 8-12 months away so it has plenty of time for polish.
This game is appears to be at a stage where most MMO's lately start their open beta a month before launch - and this is why I am so excited about this game. Finally, a develop not named Blizzard has a launch date of "when its ready".

Yes, they are from the orriginal Diablo team, or so i do beleive.
Keep in mind that from the 3 former Blizzard employees only Mike O'brien is actively working on Guild Wars 2

I'm not usually one for watching long gameplay videos, but I watched that whole thing. Absolutely loving what I'm seeing so far! Looks extremely exciting.
Judging from the video, the Elementalist definitely suits my play style more than the Ranger seems to. However, I am holding out and hoping that Mesmers make a reappearance, so I can't quite judge just yet!

I'd say everyone should wait till they play or hear about the released game before they start falling in love with a profession or even the game. It looks awesome and they can do what they said they will do but the question is; will you like how they do it when you finally get to play it?
I know I'll like it (I'm a blind gamer, I play every new game and I rarely complain until the game lags beyond control).

I know this is a thread "revive" (pun intended), but I just wanted to point out that this game is only in Alpha stages right now. Pretty impressive for Alpha, eh?

Just wanted to drop in with a 1080 HD 3-part video of 45 min of gameplay. It's dev talk, which helps explain a couple of things, but has full sound as well. Probably one of the best looking videos out there.
If you want to skip the intro of the first video, go to 5:15 for character creation, 8:15 for the opening cinematic, or 10:35 and on for gameplay.
I'm an Archer in reality so there are things that bother me about the video that mos tof you don't really care about, I'm sure.
The lack of a quiver on the character's back is bothersome. Does that mean that in the GW universe you're shooting "magic arrows"? That concept is irksome.
I don't like the skill where she was firing 10 shots in less than 5 second. Having to see that a million times over and over, is annoing.
I like an archer who shoots once, and kills something. Shoots it right in the damn face. With one arrow. So much more efficient.. and realistic. Two or three shots is even fine, but 10 shots over and over to kill a giant garden worm... it just gets old in my book.
Anyway, I'll silly play it. MMOs never do Archery right anyway. Oblivion was the best for the bow and the arrow.

I understand your concerns, and have a deep respect for them. Immersion is very important to me too, and i can see how such a display can slightly tarnish your sense of immersion in the game. Hopefully it will be something that you can easily get past, friend.
And while I loved Oblivion, I did get annoyed by the damage system. If you were fighting a high level character, it didn't matter how many times you plugged the guy's face with arrows...he just kept coming...
If you are looking for a game that allows one hit kills to the head with arrows, Warrios of Might and Magic: Dark Messiah is the only game I know which did archery any real justice regarding damage.
Regarding GW2's archery, I think they are trying to go for a Legolas rapid fire style, but even a little faster...
Also, not that 1 hit kills don't work too well with most MMO's, that is unless you are a high level character and your opponent is a low level mob.

Its a demo, so we aren't sure about quivers being in yet.
And if any game followed your advice on 3 hitting monsters as an archer that game would fail miserably for horrible balance. Even if everyone could get killed in 3 hits, it would be boring because fights would be so quick and not as "epic".
Until new stuff is posted, I say just go ahead and sticky this thread. It contains links to pretty much everything people are curious about pertaining to the gameplay demo.

I really saw a lot of bad in that video personally. Made me even less hyped for the game. Lots of flashy skills don't make combat fun to play so until i try it out i can't make a decision on combat.
Cutscenes were horrible looks like an old nes cutscene and I dunno all the people talking in the cutscenes holding up there hand and their heads shaking constantly really bothered me.
The running animation for the female hunter really bothered me. The turning of the char didn't look smooth at all. It looked like the person was over turning almost every time they turned.
The char models however look Great.
And yes the DE's look like PQ's from War to me. And there appears to be no reason to group as you can get the same reward playing solo.
And for a game with no Healing class the water elmentalist sure looks like they do a lot of healing in battle.

Keep in mind that the game is still in Alpha so it's likely that the animations aren't finalized. I agree on the cutscenes though, they're the only major thing that's bothered me so far.
They never said there was no healing, just that there are no dedicated healing classes. The water ele is support oriented and does some healing, but does a fair bit of damage as well. It literally takes 2 seconds for them to switch to fire, air, or earth though and focus more on damage/control.

Just watched that video, looks really fun and that end boss looks so fun!
That is just a mid level boss, a corrupted minor dragon.
The big ones/final bosses of the game are elder dragons.

Yes, you will be able to train new animals.. including Sharks and Squid. Sersiously, how cool is that?
