Is there linkshells in XIV?

i was wondering if they kept the linkshell idea or if they scrapt that and called it guilds or what?

They still have linkshells but they are planning to use that more as a friendlist set than a guild/clan. Wht is considered a guild/clan is a "Company". Companies will share property in the game, no one is completely sure what this could mean, square enix likes to surprise it's players. Could mean that there is a system like Conquest that companies take over an area or maybe an instanced area with forts or something.
you really threw me with the "is there linkshells" bit hehe, of course there is, its ff14 and the spiritual successor of 11, its has all the old races! they couldnt just scrap the linkshell name! as our chap that responded right away says, they renamed the guild type thing to company, but thats ok, your friends are your linkshell and that sounds good to me!
