hacked twice in less then a month1

well, been playing this game since start without ever having any problems with my account. however in the last month my account has been hacked twice! First time all gold and stuff gone but i could log in and blizzard restored the lost stuff . Now this morning again however this time account pass was changed and cant log in nor log on to forums.
Every day i have gotten whisps in game and fake emails out of game which i have ignored. there were 5 emails this morning all claiming something about beta or my account. I dont ever click on these links.
So now i am going to the bank and stopping all futher payments to blizz and even if i get the account back which according to the forums could take weeks i dont feel very secure any longer with playing the game which obviously is bleeding because of all the cheaters and hacking going on.
And blizz last time blamed add ons for the hacking. well then ban the freakin add ons if its the problem. As i do not think that i should have to pay extra to have a secure account..
well been thinking about ff14 but doubt if my computer can run it. But i guess it might be worth the investment as blizzards organization appears to ignore the fact that hundreds of accounts are being hi jacked every day now. Every morning i see people standing by bank with no gear waiting for a reply to a ticket to get there stuff back ..
seems to me that blizzard has given control of there to the hackers and cheaters and cant stop it..

LOL at you ... you got a keylogger and never erased it. So when you changed the password the hacker already knew it. Dont blame Blizzard for your failures.
BTW phishing mails are for most of the games now so it is not only Blizzard's games. The hackers goes where there it is most likely to make money ... on the most popular games... why would you try to hack MO? the game is empty... no one would want your MO gold, in Wow you can make good money hacking people.
BTW it was a curse.com ad that was uploading a virus into your computer. When the picture was on your screen, the virus was already uploaded... voila keylogger on.
I see guys like you every day on these forums......i got hacked and its blizzards fault.
Surprise.....it aint.....you prolly got about a addon for just about anything (even opening the bags all at once plugin....wtf with that? how lazy can you get??)
I use only the basic mods.....healing and bossmod.
My password aint changed in 5 freakin years and i never got hacked once.
Its not blizz m8......its you (or better sayd, your pc thats giving the password to the hackers).
Stop playing the easy way (with 1000 addons) and stop whining.
The big plus is......you might even find raiding without all your addons a bit more of a challenge too (this goes out to all you others who think raiding is a joke in wow....try it

One, Blizzard doesn't blame addons for hacking. However, some people will download the Curse downloader from sites other than Curse, and infect themselves with a keylogger. Educate yourself. Another, some people don't keep their computers up to date, which can leave vulnerabilities. Flash has been compromised many times by people looking specifically for game accounts. Again, educate yourself. If you don't keep your computer updated and clean, then it can become compromised. That is not Blizzard's fault. That is yours. They have many resources on the forums for you to read to educate yourself and protect your computer.

ive also been hacked twice in the last 2 months, i havent used my WoW account for 6 months, SIX MONTHS. But still it gets hacked, ive never had any other game accounts hacked from me or emails or whatever. NEVER.
So please explain to me how its my fault i got hacked? Do they have a fucking satelite that orbits the world, locating wow players thn reading their minds and steals all the passwords? They must have some kind of mind reading device or shit if they have stolen my password from me.
Not like a give a shit about my WoW account anymore tough, i dont even bother reporting it when my friends says someone is playing on my old chars, have fun gold farmers! Enjoy the account, lol.
Edit: Also i never used addons..

You have a keylogger on your computer. They probably got the password to the email account used for WoW. Once they had that, it was simple to reset the password to your wow account, and voila, compromised account.

The reason your account got hacked is your pc m8....be real.....mind-reading satelites dont exist (do they?? hehe).
Like the others guy is saying here......you got a keylogger on your pc from downloading your addons or other software from a wrong source...thats just the way it is.
well thanks but no thanks. In fact i formatted c: after first time and re-installed everything. So if it was a key logger im quite sure it did nt stay on a formatted hard disk. In fact Blizzard gm said to me it was most likely and addon which caused it. And the only 2 add ons i use is boss modes and decursive.
And well the massive amount of hacking of the game lately is blamed on the users! well ok obviously Blizzard doesnt care thet its there game and thousands are getting hacked everyday and they cant stop it..
So what is the solution. Mine is to vote with my wallet and end playing a game i enjoyed for many years.Not because i want to but because the game is no longer secure unless i pay extra and get a blizzard add on which prevents hacking. They should allow that service free to everyone instead of the piles of gms now being used to get back hacked accounts to their rightful owners.
and i bet lots of people are beginning to think that wow is out of control. And you people who say "blame yourself" well you to will be effected as server populations drop and people leave for games not as easily hacked as wow is at present..
Its almost 10 in the morning here and im off to bank to stop any futher payment to blizzard..

Dude, im 100% sure i dont have a keylogger. I only download stuff from 100% safe sources.
And good for you that you played since day 1 and never got hacked, that dosent mean its not blizzard faults or something else. they cant steal ALL the accounts.. lol. Ive also played since day 1 and never got hacked either before now.
Im not saying its blizzards fault, i dont know who's fault it is. But i can tell you 100% sure they didnt get the password from me.. its impossible.
But lets say i had a keylogger from watching youporn, you think whoever put out that one wants my WoW account? they would most likley go for my email and try to get something of value out from it.. and as i said i havent logged on my WoW account in over a half year and its been hacked just a few weeks ago. So how they got the password is beyong my knowledger.
And if i have a keylogger on my PC why dont they hack any of my other accounts or stuff? like my paypal?? they could fucking drained me for money if they wanted somehow
But they cant because i dont have a keylogger!!
Edit: Also both times my account has been hacked has been after the Battle.net merge. and there has been a great increase in wow account hacking's since they forced that merger. coincidence?? i think not..

I suggest you stop using "Passw0rd" as your password.
Seriously, you can moan all you want that it isn't your fault that you don't have a key logger, etc but ultimately it is your responsibility and if they got you once they are likely to get you again unless you take serious steps to prevent it from happening which it doesn't sound like you've done.
I have four accounts and have played since the day the servers opened up and have yet to lose an account. Which is part luck but mostly following good account security which includes using their authenticator.
Sorry for your loss but not sympathetic towards your situation at all.

Because there are no such thing on the web. The moment you declare something safe it will get hacked a moment later.
Why do they not steal your paypal account?
Because its stealing, real money and police do target those kind of thieves more than thoses who steals virtual money from a fiction game. Hacking your MO account wouldnt pay as much as hacking your Wow account. what would you do at their place? take 3 hrs to steal 1 account of MO to get 10$ or take 3hrs steal an wow account to make 50$ ? The choice is easy you would go where it pays the most.
Did you know that just the fact to upload an ad on this site could have get you a keylogger? It is impossible for you to be 100% sure you dont have a keylogger. Unless you format c: and dont put anything on the drive thereafter, not even Windows.
I love these posts where people say their account has been hacked twice in the last 6 months but they never use it. If they never use it then how do they know it's been hacked? Gee, I got an email from Blizzard let me go check the account, duh.
I get notices on accounts that have never had anything to do with WoW that my account has been changed.
It really seems that most of these posts are being done by people simply to stir up trouble and aren't very credible.
if that is true that your hacks have been since the merge with battlenet then i realy hope (if its a bug in blizzards security) they fix it asap cause if my account get hacked once, i stop the payments......simple as that.
Anyways.....as for mail adressen getting hacked or sold.......dont you think these mailaddress sellers dont sell these mailaddresses to hackers? (who try your mail agains different games to see if you have an account.
If it says "a mail has been sent to your email adress to comfirm a "new" password then they know it exists in that game......they aint stupid you know.
But realy......i hope your issue will be solved soon m8.....no paying customer diserves this anyways.
Have you ever heard of friends? guild members, i had a friend who had his wow account hacked he was on vacation and it was dormant for 8 months i called him and asked if he started playing again.
Two answers:
Buy an authenticator
Buy an antivirus software, not some free crap

So you reformatted your computer. How did that prevent you from getting a keylogger a second time? If you got a trojan the first time, what exactly did you change to prevent the situation from occuring a second time? This isn't a case of lightning never striking twice in the same place. If you got infected once, odds are extremely high that you engage in something that puts you into a high risk group.
Also, mods are 100% safe. Unzipping files to the wow addon folder is 100% safe. Anything that requires execution, installation or special install instructions other than unzipping to the wow addon folder isn't a mod and isn't safe.
I see guys like YOU all the time on these forums and then a couple of months later I see those same guys saying..."well i never thought it could happen to me but..."
fact is blizzards security isn't what it's cracked up to be. I know people who are net savy and work in IT departments who have had their accounts hacked. I personally believe that someone who works for blizzard sells account info to gold sellers and hackers.
Just get an authenticator man. There are way too many long-winded ideas of ways to fix it or how it's happening here. The authenticator works. Buy one. End of story.
and before you say that is a ludicrous idea consider this. those people manning the customer service phones only make so much money....
No authenticator. I have 0 sympathy for you. Get one. its the price of a happy meal.
Here's a tip: Format you pc completely, and start fresh. And then.. never, ever sign into anything that seems to be from blizzard, that you get in your email. 99.9999% of the time.. it's not from blizzard.
Or just buy an authenticator. I'm gonna keep saying it until this thread is closed, It's just that simple, and this thread should have been 1 OP and 1 reply. That's all that was needed instead of this ridiculous arguing back and forth about how it could've happened that doesn't help anyone because you don't know everything the OP did, and most likely the OP doesn't even remember everything. Buy an authenticator = problem solved. Everyone that plays WoW can easily afford one so there is no excuse.
You are both right, even with an authenticator can he still have other nasty trojans that can do harm to his internet bank or other services too. Once you have been compromised you should be very careful and get a new Antivirus/firewall (Comodo is good and free).
You can't be too sure and paranoia is actually not a bad thing on the net and with suspicious mails.
True, I'll give you that. Information on how to be more careful is always a good thing, but if the OP is only having issues with WoW, it just takes an authenticator. A good anti spyware/malware/virus program will usually take care of the rest.
