Open beta schedule released!!

keygankeygan Member Posts: 237

Just a heads up, the open beta will start on wednesday  september 1 @ 2 (GMT).  It is up on the twitter page.  There was a tweet right before that one that said open beta would start august 31 at 1900 (PDT). .  I am assuming that was a mistake since the september 1st is the newest tweet.

thought some might be interested :).

Bloody excellent. I'm off that day so i'll be able to babysit  the client download.

Cheers for the heads-up - I was expecting maybe a weekend launch for Open Beta, but this is even better.

Awesome, I was worried it might get dragged out until the middle of September. Anyone have any idea if the closed beta client will work and just need to be updated, or do you think the whole game will have to be re downloaded? I know nobody else probably knows either, but I sure hope I don't have to go through that nightmare download again. =/

Is it open to the public or is there a need to preorder?

Open doesn't mean the same to SE as it means to most of us. It will either be invite again or they close down the client download page when the number of testers they want have been reached. I am going to try anyway.

its kinda stupid. If they dont let me in i wont buy it becasue i dont know if my system can run it and if its worth the cash. I like the art the classes the world looks nice but no idea i have to try it first! I ran benchmark had 3500 score but still no idea if its enough ;p

Also, the two different dates for open beta are just the timezone differences. (EU/US)

The open beta is "Invite only", unless you have a key you aint getting in.

  • DancerDancer Member Posts: 102

It seems 3500 is about average from those who have already been in beta, at lest from the forums I check. Mine hangs at 3800ish  and I feel OK about it. Just might need to tone down some part of the game. The graphics card seems to be what take the biggest hit.

Yup.. as I figured. That's SE's typical open. Bad form on their part too. Only thing open is now beta's can post videos. That's something anyway.

They'll increase user numbers as the beta carries on.

The details for the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test are described below.

    Operating ProcedureSchedule:Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 19:00 (PDT)  / 02:00 (GMT)

*The Open Beta Test will be online continuously for 24 hours a day.

Maintenance and any other announcements will be posted accordingly.

*Information on testing dates and times will also be posted on the official FINAL FANTASY XIV Twitter feed.

    http://twitter.com/FF_XIV_JP

    http://twitter.com/FF_XIV_EN

    http://twitter.com/FF_XIV_DE

    http://twitter.com/FF_XIV_FR

    *Log-in Capacity

During the initial stages of the beta test, the number of players allowed to be logged in at any given time will be limited, with capacity to gradually increase as adjustments are performed on server load. Should the maximum capacity already be reached when you attempt to log in, a message will appear indicating that the world is currently congested, and you will be asked to try again in a short while. At this time you will be placed on a waiting list in the order of attempted log-in time. To maintain your position on the waiting list, you must initiate the log-in procedure again within ten minutes of your first attempt.

    *Feedback Submission

While playing, testers who have been asked to submit opinions on anything at all regarding topics such as game balance issues, settings that you may have found difficult to understand, and features that you felt were inconvenient, unintuitive, or required further explanation are asked to use the feedback hread, and for those testers who have been assigned the task of reporting bugs are asked to use the bug report form.

Nice.  The day after I get back in town.  Will have enough time to rest up then go to it.

  • CavallCavall Member Posts: 272

Currently there is nowhere for you to get a key other than the beta's official signup page. All the keys for fansites were given out a week or so ago.

    we don't really know yet.

But I'm guessing the beta launcher (you can get that from fileplanet) will download the new or update the old client.

Is there an auto-log out, if you stand still and do nothing for some time like 15 minutes?

So do we just wait for them to update us on how we can participate?  Is there a sign-up or are they just inviting from old applications?
