You want to take the Gaming Forum World's most dysfunctional, whiny, opinionated, ill infomed, "up it's own arse" community into a guild with you (and I'm a card carrying member of all the above, but so are ALL of you ;oP)...

... good luck dude, you're going to need it.
I would have to agree.
There are so many disparate personalites that joining a guild just because they go to the same forum won't work well.
I can see reaching out to people on this forum and joining with those of like mind.
BTW, nice Terry Thomas avatar.
what's with all the b&w classic actors as avatar thing?
I keep seeing more and more of these!
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Funny enough I seem to be one of the few left in After Hours after the merge.
But you bring up the exact example I was thinking of.
It wasn't that people were disrespectful or anything but that there were so many people with different expectations that I could feel them getting frustrated.
For example, there were many people who kept exploring all the possibilities of every race/class on the Island. One day one of the members writes in chat his frustration concerning people "staying at lvl 10" when there was more content to be experienced and end game raiding.
It was clear that this person was more interested in higher lvl content. But there was a contingent of people who seemed content to be on the Island and explore the classes.
Or on occassion you would see something like "why isn't there any grouping going on". The answer was that people seemed content to do their own thing and no one suggested a group.
so the question then went out to that individual "well, where do you want to group" but he didn't have any ideas.
A good guild is one where the members work together in an organic way, not one where people have expectations that are difficult to meet. And that is exactly what happens when you bring different people with different personalities and different expectations.
Six or so months ago we had a member leave our LOTRO kinship to join a more hardcore raiding group. He only stayed a few days and came back. He basically said that they were more hardcore than he was expecting.
He thought he was going to get a lot of raiding but it turns out that raising it to that level also invited other changes.
You have to have everyone on the same page if a guild is going to work.
Believe me, I became the clan leader of a group in Lineage 2. Great group of people. But in the end their were too many disparate personalities and it was difficult to keep everyone happy.

It would be interesting just to watch the backstabbing, whining and tantrums thrown over power struggles for leadership that would obviously occur with this group fo degenerates 8P.
I think I should add that I don't mean to dissuade the OP but just suggest that all the parameters of the guild be laid out so that all the members are clear of the expectations.

Fair enough, I did mean in a reaching out of like-minded players who enjoy the social aspect of MMOs.
I know what you guys mean with the whole MMORPG-forum personality thing. Just putting the feelers out and see what kind of response I get. Anyway, it'll be a while yet!

Ascension - EU Mature, Friendly, Laid Back SW:TOR Guild now recruiting.
Go to http://www.guildwars2guru.com/ and look at the guild section in the forums.
There will probably be a lf-guild section of the forums a little closer to release.
I think most people look to their rl friends before randoms from a general forum though
MMORPG.com is rather opinionated...
<Welcome to my world>
I am actually a strange one
I prefer choosing my guilds ingame through the act of roleplaying....
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
