Me and my buddy were addicted to ultima online and he started getting very close to a girl he met in game. So, through chatting in game, and email he had lots of pics of her. She was dang hot, anyways time went on and they were always together being cute and pking with their pet dragons and such. I would tag along and he had changed, he was too tender with her it was a bit anoying. So time goes on, and she wants to meet him in the real world. She is from hawaii, she is 19 years old and has her own house. You see her uncle died and left all his money/house to her, so she is a rich hot 19 year old with her own house in hawaii.
I think its all too good to be true, but I hope it will work out. She wants to meet him, since she has money she offers to fly my bud out to her place to visit and have some good times on the beach. So after a while she gives him her phone number and tells him to call at a certain time. He missed that time and decided on saturday afternoon to give her a call, she hadnt logged in all day. So he calls up and some lady answeres the phone, he asked for the girl (i forgot her name), she says confused, um... no one lives here by that name, but there is a girl up the street by that name, but she is only 12. He tells this lady the story, and she says... hmmmmmm "I have a son who playes Ultima". She said to call back later and talk to her husband.
So later that night he calls up the man of the house, and they have a friendly but scarry talk... this guy has some scary voice and he is in the military. So after the long chat, they figure out that this 12 year old boy, with the aid of his older 16 year old brother have been playing this girl character in UO messing with my friends head. They planned on having him call up to the 16 year old's friend, but he didnt call durring the time they were planning on. MUAHAHAHA, I laughed for so long, and told him... you know, you have been in love with a 12 year old boy for months now, how do you feel. HAHA, he was down for a couple weeks, so i left it alone. The military father of impending justice, canceld the UO acount that he was paying for, and grounded that cute little boy for months (so he said).
The moral of the story, dont trust everyone you meet on a MMORPG or something... lol hope you enjoy, Post any funny romance stories you have, if you have one. 
oh the hawaii part was true thats where that lil kid lived... Hey if you 12 year old (the one from my story) reads this POST i wunna hear how you turned out LOL and BTW, you hurt my friend. lol

I never trust people in games.
I remember when me and my friend were playing EQ and this guy was talking to my friend. Randomely the dude game my friend 500 plat, it was cool cause he was a low level. But once he had given my friend the money, he asked for his phone number, my friend freaked out and logged off and ignored the guy, he got really scared.

i have a story sort of like this, i met a girl playing BG1 online (it was actually a girl). she was from turkey. we would play together a lot and we got to know each other pretty well. one day she asked for my address and sent me some pictures and a letter (she wasnt bad looking either), she also put her phone number in it, so i sent her mine. we sent letters back and forth, pictures, and stuff for a while. one day she decides to call me on the phone, we talk for a while and she tells me how she is coming here to go college and she would be able to see me. well, i never heard from her again after talking to her on the phone... its still a mystery to me why. but, her family were muslim, and i speculate they didnt like her having a relationship with someone who wasnt a muslim. but, that was a long time ago.
iom married with a kid now, hehe.

I won't blame your friend...Except that he should of called the "girl" and talked to her quite a lot on the phone(It wouldn't of been a surefire way to assure that it was actually a "girl", but a 95% probability)
I'm not sure how those two brothers were able to keep up the facade for that long.
Anyhow...My story is an interesting one. Anyone who ever played on AC1 Darktide in the early days probably knew of this girl.(It isn't really a personal story. But the story of a character in the game)
But it all started out...In a virtual world long long ago.
There was a character by the name of "Lauae." Who was a 20 odd something year old woman (Pretty sure) who had no shame flirting with 16 year old boys, stealing their accounts, cleaning out the accounts, and suddenly forgetting who they were...
Anyhow, the story went something similar to. This girl started out as my vassal. As a good patron I would help her out. But then the patron/vassal relationship got a little odd...And she started flirting with me. Which I cut short, and she saw she couldn't exactly use me like she wanted. So then she started flirting with another guy, using him to give her loot/cash etc, (this was the aforementioned 16 year old boy). After she got his account name and password, and wiped him out, oops, she has no more interest.
So then she moves on to my patron, she broke allegiance to me, and swore to him. Used him for a while. Worked her way up in the guild, (I left the guild long long ago by then) and sooner or later she was the leader of her own guild. (Wonder how she managed that...)
So as time moves on. She's found herself another man in the game. Who happend to be a high-ranking officer in the Blood guild.
And this is where the story really gets interesting.
So you think after about 1 1/2 years of this girls infamous using, she's just gonna use this guy again...
Well...I thought that as well. And I was dead wrong.
She had this guy who played with her who she always said was her best friend. Well...Come to find out the relationship was more then platonic. The guy who she said was her best friend, was really her husband, which whom lamented of how the (Well, you can imagine of all the colorful words he used to describe her) girl filed divorce and moved in with the aforementioned high ranking Blood officer.
Fun times they were...Interesting people there was.
P.S. If I have any mispellings/grammatical mistakes/sentence structuring flaws. You'll have to excuse me. It's a wee bit late and my mind tends to get foggy.

i have another story for you.
I was playing Ultima online (coincidence eh??) and was a guildmaster of a small guild on the Europa shard. One day one of my guildmates introduce to the group a new player, a certain Alldreamer that would want to join. This player was playing a male character named Montrovant, and it was played quite well so Alldreamer joined my guild. I played with this guy, Montrovant, for months and we found to be quite nice friends.
I knew all along that "Alldreamer" was a female, but i removed such information as she played a male and we did not much else than playing.
Well, for one reason or the other we started speaking via ICQ, first a few words and then more and more. We discovered each other personality without the hinderance of shyness or looks, pure opening of each one mind. We found to like each other a lot. So after a while we became engaged (yep, online, without ever meeting once). Later on i flyed over to Finland (i'm from Italy, so not that big of a deal) and met her.
We had a delicious time together and continued our relationship with my infrequent flights to Finland and sharing any moment of our online life.
Well, now i moved to finland and we live together in the same house in Espoo, a finnish town. We will get married in may of this years.
So yeah, do not believe everything you see/hear online, but sometimes, it is all true.

Well, I've got a short story of my own, and it's nothing significant really. With my old character "Adreal" on Thistledown when I was Khym Shon'Jir's vassal, I got a vassal of my own named "Spinning Blade". It was a female character of course. Having only one vassal and her being pretty much my first vassal, I was well dedicated to helping her out. I did feel kind of attracted to her but nothing serious - just liked helping her out. The days went on and I continued to show her around and pick up oddities for her to use in game as I wasn't at any great level to seriously provide for her.
One day we were just hunting out on the open plains and she was like, "Can I ask you a question?" I said, "Sure." So she was like, "Is it true that people can get married in this game?" Being new to AC I still didn't have all the answers so I replied, "lol. I don't doubt it." She was silent after that, and I was pretty sure I knew what she meant. Anyway, the days went on and I bought her some stuff to give to her the next time I saw her but she never showed up again. I kept that stuff for a long time and she never came back. Well, that's it. Nothing spectacular.

I dont know the whole story, but one of my friends who was really into UO had a similar thing happen... well kinda. He met this "girl" (although im pretty sure the girl he met actually was a girl) and she was pretty hot too. Anyway, they co-owned a tower and she was going on a trip for awhile so he asked if he could have full ownership... so she let him have full membership... so what does my friend do? He sold the tower on Ebay (I tihnk for like $400
)and I think needless to say they only exchanged angry words after that

About the topic, i have no kind of real proof (beside having spoken with others in my situation, rumors and there was another couple of Italo-Finn people in my guild... but i do not think they got to know each other online, never asked) but i believe this situation is more common than people believe. Maybe not in games in particular, but Internet relationships are quite the rage.
After all, before the phone and long distance travel was invented, people used to have full fledged relationship ending up in marriages, with letters that took days to travel back and forth.
Internet is simply a new media in wich we can act out our need for a "Significant Other", one that, like letters, cut out completely appeareances that, while good in the short term, have no bearing in the success of a long lasting relationship.
Of course internet also give a new tool to the mischievous people out there (and the downright $%&?!%). Anonimity, large audience and no repercussions make for lot of interesting bandits like the one we hear the stories here. Luckly i never experienced something like that (got lucky in the first shot eh?) but it is a fact that more than a few of the "female" avatars are played by male guys.
Actually one of those was a friend of mine and when asked why he would create a female avatar (he wasn't doing it for RP reasons) he answered "Simple! Female avatars get 500% more stuff than male ones, i just have to plead, flash my eyelashes and they are all at my feet!"
I can only say "Brrrrr, at what levels people can go to get some edge in a totally fake and fictional world??"
