Free-To-Play has finally killed my inclination to login to my Lifetime account. Good luck and godspeed!

I am giving it a month or two to see how it turns out..Most people I have spoken too are doing the same thing.

"Free-to-play" as Turbine puts it is a deceptive form of advertising as far as I am concerned. But, if you are drawn to the flame by that word "free" go right ahead and continue to decieve yourself.
Let's party like it is 1863!
I played for 3 years including alpha testing back in 06 now its free and my lifetime account is worthless later lotro
How? your account will stay VIP and you will get 500tp a month..
March on! - Lets Invade Pekopon
Worthless not really. You get upgraded to VIP status and you can continue to play the game same way you did before. How is it worthless? mind explaining to me please? you are still not going to spend a dime on game.

I'm not clear as to why people say this.
your lifetime account is not worthless.
You played for 3 years with only one charge. You don't ever have to pay for any of the additional content other than expansions. You get monthly points to put toward those expansions.
"free" players who never spend a dime will eventually be able to play throught he game but it will take a long time for them to earn the points to get all of the content.

QFT. Not worthless at all. You shouldn't have to put out a dime. I'm looking forward to that myself. I'm stoked about my lifetime now.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm happy about the free to play because I can finally play LOTRO with my family without having to have four accounts. We have three people in the family that will play together often, so we have the start of our own group. ^_^
Lifetimer here as well, and I am VERY MUCH looking forward to F2P! I expect great things from it.
Won't happen lol but nice try Cpthowdy.
Looking forward to F2P!

If you had not noticed, there is a great deal of misinformation being perpetuated by users of this site. Hence his confusion.

The truth has been well defended, though. Any ignorance of the value of their LTS could only be willful, at this point.
Me, I now regret not going lifer, and I'm a longstanding critic of lifer subs.
Depends on how he meant "worthless"......
Worthless as in "I no longer have access to the things I currently have access to".... clearly not the case.
Worthless as in "I'll start having to spend money on things I didn't have to before"..... remains to be seen. Will depend on how important the store items are to regular game play, how much buying power 500 points per month really translates to, and where Turbine decides to draw the line between updates that are included as part of your VIP status (i.e. what used to be free regular content updates) and extra's you have to pay for.
Worthless as in wrecks my game play experience.... entirely possible. Remember just because you think F2P won't spoil your enjoyment doesn't mean it won't spoil some-one elses.... one guys treasure is anothers trash and all that.
Anyways, F2P is a BIG CHANGE regardless of how much anyone might try to downplay it.
Personaly, I'm on a multi-month subscription. I'm in wait and see mode...but I'm pretty skeptical. I've heard the "Everything will be fine" spin one too many times from Developers in the past. Turbines going to have to proove that it won't negatively effect game-play or current subscribers with actions not words.....and that's going to take a bit of time (or maybe it won't...if they are really stupid/over-reaching... but I don't expect that).
Or, you could just log into the beta server and find out.

It goes live in 8 days so it will probably stay the same.
March on! - Lets Invade Pekopon
The beta server and the price list are probably good indications of what F2P costs will be for the first month or so after launch..... expecting that they are good indicators of anything longer lived then that would be a mistake (IMO)..... and it's the long term effects that really interest me.
Companies typicaly make pretty siginficant adjustments over a few months or even a year or more when introducing new models like these. Furthermore, the beta server experience doesn't really tell us (as far as I'm concerned) the full story as to how F2P will really effect the game play experience as a whole once it goes live. I don't expect Turbine themselves fully has a handle on that either....it's just a plan they have...no plan survives first contact intact.
As far as the price list is concerned....there are some items I'm really not happy being in there at all. There is stuff in there that I can definately see effecting game play negatively. Some of the prices seem a little steep...others not so much. However, we'll just have to see.
My real test will be if 6 months from now:
1) I can play the game with no item purchases just as easly and with just as much fun as I could before it went F2P.
2) The community hasn't been trashed.
3) They continue to release new content free of charge to VIP's that is equivalent to the Free Content Updates we were used to getting included with our subscriptions. (i.e. We aren't getting less value for our money then we had before).
If it meets those criteria..then I'll still play....if not...then it's not like there is any shortage of other offerings out there.
I am sick and tired of people moaning about LotRO F2P, I preordered my lifetime, collectors edition and I for one am looking forward to F2P. There's a lot of good new stuff coming out, some of my favorite old instances will be run on level and drop on level loot. All sorts of new goodness is coming with F2P from what I saw in beta. Stop whining stop being chicken little and give it a try.
So if the F2P folks find, complain that something is overpriced Turbine is going to lower the price? You do go to extremes at times.
Edit. spelling
WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.
I am excited! I have my founders/lifetime account roaring and ready. Not only do I get to continue to play just as I have but now I get more free stuff too! Awesome!
No, but watching what users buy/don’t buy and other metrics that turbine has that you do not, will temper the pricing. Also turbine likes to do sales a lot. Hence the "special and featured" item sections.
You are are binary a lot.

Oh yes, im sure they have been testing how much people will bear but the whining of players will not lower the price of this F2P game.
