PvP?

So how will be PvP in this game?

Are there factions/realms and if yes, how many?

Would you describe it as group oriented or solo oriented PvP?

Does it have instanced PvP?

Does it have world PvP?

Are there world PvP objectives?

Does it have level tiers or it's free-to-gank?

Is there a PvP on/off switch in order to stay safe when you PvE?

Are there PvP-only abilities or abilities that work differently in PvP than PvE?

Does it have duels?

Thanks

There is no PvP in this game as far as I know of.

  • DocBrennisDocBrennis Member UncommonPosts: 39

FFXIV will be the first game to implement "real" PvP.  Anytime you want you can look up the name, telephone number, and address of any PCs running around.  It is then on you to log out and drive, fly, or run to their home to engage in a fist fight.  Be careful though, Square Enix hasn't perfected "real" respawns yet...

On a serious note, I think I heard mention of some arena type PvP a while ago.  I did not see a source for that information so it may just be speculation.  Same with faction PvP.  As far as I could tell it was speculation or something to be added later.

I just joined a couple of days ago and realised this obviously wasn't a PVP oriented game in the first 10 minutes. What have you been reading and posting about for the past 1+ years?

Little to no pvp, and what there is, you can expect it won't be even close to what others titles such as WOW or WAR had. Maybe a more in-depth system could be implemented later down the line, but i wouldn't bet on it. Classes seem pretty standard.

I am a hardcore PvP Player but To be honest I don't mind FFXIV not having any PvP,

Guess I wan't something news for a change. Beside that when I wanna PvP I will probaly just end up playing Brink for a few hours when it releases.

I'm hoping the game has a conquest system like XI did, otherwise I don't know why they bothered dividing player up into 3 nations other than for story or immersion purposes.

    Otherwise, no Pvp image

Seriously, its 2 endgames in MMO's...raiding or pvp, but  preferably both.

Having no pvp will push people over in SWTOR and GW2 for sure.Im not saying its wrong, but besides hardcore pvp players you have people that like to pvp now and then as well, and its actualy ALOT of people that play that way.

I myself noticed it released next month so i thought id have a go at it because im bored, but no pvp at all ?...no way ill play this game.

I guess they dont need my money then ^^

It won't push the people who don't care for pvp away as "they don't care for pvp".

Any person who must have pvp will most likely not be playing this.

As far as the other comment about "Having men look like boys", I believe it's because they see a balance between the sexes and don't consider the feminine side a bad thing. The might not see it as being "girly" or "feminine" but another part of the whole which encompasses things like grace and more gentle beauty.

    Just a thought.

Yeah but still doesn't mean that every damn MMO out there has to have a compulsory PVP option it in. Educate yourself  a little about FF and the previous MMO and you will realise that FF was never designed or meant to be a PVP game. if you are looking for thrills you are on wrong game forums.

And because your so VERY smart all ppl have a preference for PvP and PvP only which is why so much of the industry makes "WoW clones" only. Here's a newsflash for you: you're dead wrong. Your statement assumes PvP is needed to be successful and the fact is that's been proven wrong for the most part. Though FF11 doesn't have as large of a base as WoW, it is still a financial success [as in it stays in operating green]. If the case was "I want to play only against other players" then why does the Wii console pretty much triumph over PS3 and Xbox in sales? According to your statement the PvP aspect from games like COD and Socom should help to push these consoles above the Wii. And WoW clones are likely more dominant due to desires to replicate the success of WoW. If sandbox mmo's were the biggest thing then everyone would be off, rushing to clone Eve. Companies replicate success but they don't often start off as the beginning point of it. That's to say they didn't create everything and then release it, they copied stuff here and there until someone copies it and builds on it to have their product become a success (ie. WoW taking aspects from EQ and Ultima for their own game).

PvP is only a preference as far as mmo's. And I'll go out on a limb and assume you've (1)never played Star Wars Galaxies or (2) talked to the general audience who will buy SWTOR. They will mostly buy it because SWTOR is expected to be a return of Star Wars to a sandbox mmo and not because it will feature PvP. The WoW fanbase may enjoy GW2 and try that as well but assuming PvP kills a game is not only a long stretch, its actually a lie.

You don't have to enjoy FF11, you can even bash on its subscriber base being less than WoW, but it does make money and operates in the green. So that does mean your whole argument gets tossed out of the window. Can you do me a favor and do a little-fact check next time. I mean every time I see someone post something about PvP, grind or whatever I find myself wondering if its a little kid posting posing as a vet mmo player.

You know there is no PVP, there has been lots of posts about this already. This is yet another troll post, nothing else. Give up, leave the game alone. If it's not for you move on to the next.

If you really didn't know.. Can I then suggest actually reading and browsing the forum before posting?

Sigh, what a joke you are.

All im stating is that i wont buy the game because its not pvp in it.Do you really have a problem with that? and the fact that i wont buy it because its no (alternative) pvp in it sure as hell do mean that others wont buy it either.

And your wrong about SWTOR, it will be nothing like SWG.....i guessyou are tthe little kid thats not taken your time to read up before posting.

You are not discussing anything you are trying to pass your opinions as facts regarding how every MMO needs a PVP. Like i said before FF is not the game for you if you are looking for PVP thrill. So what is left to discuss when its not going to happen?

I feel like waving a red flag to a bull here, are all you guys this touchy when it comes to pvp?

As far as i know all i did was that i answered in a thread about pvp on this forum, because i was exited for about 5 min before reading this actual thread ^^ because a new MMO was dropping in september.

Then i stated that me and people like me, that like atleast some pvp in MMO games "probably" wouldnt subscribe to the game.Is that really so bad ? =)
