So I was curious if someone could break down some of the features of RIFT, what is the pve going to be like, what separates itself, is there pvp, in what form? etc etc
Also, if you could post your fav Rift Gameplay Video, that would be great.
Thanks for the info

cmon now, I know there are some seriously rabid fans out there and if I would of made some outrageous claims how RIFT was bad, I would of gotten rebuttals immediately, but I make a nice post, 80+ people read and nothing? I know you guys can do better than that.
There's already quite a few threads on this forum from people asking about what makes RIFT different, but I can break it down for you quickly:
- Flexible, open-ended class system. Players have the option of collecting, mixing and matching souls (talent trees), giving the option of new, hybrid classes. Not all talent trees will be combat-orientated, some will be crafting-orientated or "social" orientated (no idea what that involves though).
- Dynamic content. Rifts open up randomly across the world which alter the landscape and pour monsters out. These monsters can spread out into the world if the rift isn't closed, and potentially attack settlements (though this is unconfirmed).
- Further to the dynamic content, the dev team has moved a lot of the content server-side. This means they can alter the game world without having to release a patch. Special NPCs such as merchants can appear, move around and disappear, and big events can happen without broadcasting it to the player base by having them download a patch. For example, players could just log in one day to find that a huge rift has exploded open without warning and an army has poured out, invading a nearby city. Nothing has been confirmed at this point, however the potential remains there.
- One of the best-looking MMOs to date.
There are many threads about this already and the info you ask for is easily obtainable from this site.
[mod edit]
Rift is a fantasy game with the same general feature set as EQ2, WoW, LoTRO or AoC.
Combat is the regular MMO type - hotbar and spells / abilities, global coowldown, regular MMO targeting.
PvE is solo, groups of 5 and raids of 20. Same general layout of content as the games above, some stuff to solo but more difficult content requiring groups and toughest content requiring raids. The game has both open zones and instances. Instances scale with level and become different.
PvP is unknown at this point but as the game has 2 separate main factions, it's expected there will be some. There will also be battlegrounds of some kind.
The distinguishing feature of the game is the dynamic content that consists of Rifts opening all over the world and mobs coming through, if mobs are killed, more difficulty mobs emerge. People can easily co-operate on these. If not defeated rifts will stay in the game until cleared and become footholds that need to be destroyed.
The other distinguishing feature is the class-system. There are 4 archetypes - Mage, Rogue, Warrior and Cleric. Within each archetype are 8 classes, you can mix any 3 of those of those classes in any way you want. It's kinda like AoC only instead of having 3 specific skill trees, you pick 3 skill trees out of 8. You can change specs on the run and stuff. This makes for many possible combinations, although at the end of the day you're still either a Rogue, Warrior, Cleric or MAge as you cannot mix between those 4.
I don't have any favourite gameplay videos, but this is a good one for getting a good handle on how the game works:

I appologize, I looked around "BRIEFLY" for a post similar to mine and didnt see one. I may have overlooked it. It was after I made the post that I saw the QUESTIONS post and learned quite a bit.
The thread near this one has links to two HD videos I took at Gamescom: http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/431/view/forums/thread/289217/Iron-Tomb-dungeon-run-HD.html - I think they are worth a watch. Keep in mind this is Alpha gameplay and the instance is the very first one and low-level.
Others have covered off the features bit.
Ningen wa ningen da.
