This looks way better than the stupid Fire Rift Trailer which looked like EQ1 with better models.

Here is another video from E3 that is even longer and is available in hd:

You see some more fighting in this video. If there is a trial or open beta I will definately try it out but it just doesnt catch my attention like GW2 or TERA. The Combat in Rifts looks pretty standard and not very astonishing.

I do not think the Rift devs are trying to reinvent the wheel here. And i cannot blame them for that. They chose to go the "sure" path in terms of gameplay. I don't want to say it resembles WoW, because i am pretty tired of reading the same thing in all the threads.   There is this certain gameplay type that it is proven that it appeals in the majority  of the playerbase. Games that tried to differentiate from that path only grabbed a small niche of the market. Of course i am not against differentiation. Games MUST differentiate from one another...but....have you ever wondered why do companies try to follow the same path? Are they really that stupid? Dont they know that they will be against the dominant monster (WoW)? Yes they do know. But they prefer to go with the flow, and there are probably good reasons for that, and being stupid is NOT one of them:)

From my point of view, if a game launches and it is FINISHED then it can succeed. Even if its not reinventing the wheel. Players tend to stick to familiar paths, thats why they are hyped by every new thing that is about to come out, even though they KNOW they still can play the known game. Sometimes it seems to me that players only want a change of world and lore or classes rather than a change of gameplay. Many people are bashing many games, resembling wow and such, but in truth i think that only a small portion of them wants true differentiation.

So...i gladly welcome Rift, as i game i hope it will offer us fun, and not as something different.

Well at first I didn't like Rift that much as it felt like a hybrid between EQ and WoW with HD graphics when I watched the videos. Eventhough I still feel that from the artstyle and some of the gameplay, I have to say that the world of Rift does look quite interesting. The only thing bothering me is the combat, it looks quite static and boring (just as in the TOR videos). I hope it won't be like this in the entire game (same hopes for TOR).

This game looks to be a very traditional MMO and there is nothing wrong with that. I just hope it wont have the same end-game as WoW, cause I do not really like that.

Anyway, I have this game on my radar together with TOR and GW2. So far the videos of GW2 has convinced me more than the other 2 did. But none of the games is going to release soon so I reserve my judgement for now.
