FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test Postponed
FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test, which is scheduled to begin at 19:00 (PDT) on Aug. 31, 2010, will be postponed due to a confirmation of critical bugs. New schedule will be release? at a later date.
Along with the postponement of FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test, the issuing of registration code for FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test will be postponed as well. With the download of client software's installer, it will be suspended at 19:00 (PDT) on Aug. 31, 2010.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

That there is a dissapointment, but hopefully they will get things fixed quickly and resume beta.

Yep, postponed.
I would rather they postpone and fix, then continue and have people making the game worse than it is because of bugs.
Finnaly some good news.
I bet the canned Beta untill game release.
Why can't Square enix keep there word ?
Some of us have been waiting for this moment for months and then 12 hours before we can final play the open beta they come with this kind of BS. I canceled all my apointments for yesterday because I wanted to play the beta and now this.
I lol'd so hard at this statement.
Be glad that they are taking the time to make this game better. Try waiting 3 to 4 years on a constantly delayed title. lawls....months...
Haha, I know, right? It's just a beta. It's not like the game got cancelled or something. I'm excited too, but I got other stuff to do still (like sleep, watch TV, procrastinate - the important stuff).
Those of us that have been around for a long time playing new releases and betas have been burned enough times to know to NEVER trust set dates for any beta, release or expansion. 9/10 something will always come up to delay or push things aside.
If they fix the ?critical bug", which some have already stated is "all closed beta accounts" were accidently removed from beta, then, fine... I hope they also use that time to polish the game a bit more.
Shit happens, That does not make the postponement a "lie" or anythng of the like.

Because of critical bugs, FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test, which is scheduled to begin on Sept. 1, 2010 at 02:00 (GMT), will be postponed.
This was taken from Twitter a few min ago.
eh dude it was only beta...maybe you should have waited till release to cancel your work.

"the issuing of registration code for FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test will be postponed as well."
So does anyone know how the open beta registration code is supposed to work and where we get it from? That is for those of us who never got into the closed beta. I figure those in the closed will get one in email but I am wondering if the rest of us need to do something particular. Do we need to sign up some where? Or is it all still a mystery?
All die, so die well.
Per the email I got:
When the time comes (if beta didn't get postponed it would have been 7pm PDT tonight)
you go to this site:
And sign up, the registration code would be sent to your email.
You then take that code and add it to your account here:
I went to https://secure.square-enix.com/account/ but see nothing about the beta there.
Poor old you , yes why don't they keep their word...... It is a development cycle not a promise just an estimated start date. If they get issues they are allowed to fix them to ensure the integrity of the game.
Guess you need a dose of reality here... Or maybe not.
Don't be so stupid to put real life above a game. Unless gaming is your life then I guess your hopes and aspirations have been scuppered.

So, if you cancelled all your appointments for yesterday, how does that help with possible appointments today when the OB was originally scheduled!? ...am confuzzled...
OMG RUN AWAY, a developer that wishes to fix some bugs before launching the next phase of beta. Rage Quit /slit ~ good grief!
Try going to this page. It's the beta sign up page. http://entry.ffxiv.com/
It appears only the UK & Other Regions server for the beta has the postponement message. The NA server and link to the NA beta is the same as it has always been with no postponement message. I can not read the Japan one.
No, the NA has that message as well.
that is where you enter the beta key at when you get one....
Right you have to wait for the key... nobody can get them yet.
Anyone having problem to download beta client? launcher downloaded 44mb in 2h
Upload works fine but download speed very low and its stopping sometimes
You can use a torrent program, navigate to:
You will see the file that is listed in the patcher. You can then open these with a torrent program and download it much faster. Then you copy the downloaded patch to:
DocumentsMy GamesFINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Versiondownloa
Run the patcher and it will patch and you are good to go.
did what you said.... the torrent is downloading at 7.7kbps instead of the 20kbps that the program was.... meanwhile im uploading at like 500kbps, so i guess people are getting from me far more than i am taking.
if this is what i can expect out of the patching process for FF14... ill just go ahead and write this game off right now. i DL at 1meg/s typically, and am not interested in patching for 3-4 days every time a patch is released because i cant get better speeds than 7kbps.....
Don't worry, you will get excellent speed on the DL after launch when 1/2 the player base quits over the fatigue system. 8P
The download was not that bad for me, I turned it on last night before bed and it was finished by the time I woke up. I even just used the regular launcher you download for the whole thing. A lot of people talk about making your system a DMZ, I did not even have to do that.
Just give it time. I averaged 400 kb/s. You can limit your upload too if its too high.
