new here,so sorry if this has already been dealt with in another thread

I have quite a few questions about the open beta and if anyone has the answers and would be kind enough (and not a complete prat like most forums people are) to share their knowledge, it would really help me alot

so here goes

I only found out about the open beta just before it was postponed,I got the installer for the beta off FFXIV site and tryed installing the game using that

I have a 10 meg connection and the speeds i was getting was horrible, my connection however is cut off from torrents and general P2P during the day, so i didnt even expect the downloader to do much (I knew it was P2P soon as i saw it)

I left it through the day and it did nothing, as expected. I did see it started working later towards the night

I thought that was my ISP allowing P2P again (which normally happens around 6pm)

I left it for a while but it did nothing,i cant even get it to connect, it gets some local connetions and doesnt get any remote connections

Phoned my ISP and they said its not because of torrent restriction, they say it must be a problem on my side

I tryed and tryed (with the SquareEnix downloader) and eventually gave up

I did however see that SquareEnix did say they where going to remove the installer from their site and not allow ppl to download the beta for the time being while they fixed there critical errors

Started it (the installer) a few hours ago and its still doing what it did before, Is this because SquareEnix is not sharing it anymore and thats why the speeds are so horrible?

I heard they are reopening open beta on sep 2 at 2am (4am where i live)

Is there going to be a new downloader for the open beta at that time?

When I register for open beta is it based on first come first serve to get beta keys?

Does your domicile (place of residence - Country) matter for getting into the beta? do they base there "giving away of keys" on where u stay?

How long will the beta carry on for?

if this is explained on the official FFXIV site the feel free to post the link, i however was unsuccesful finding such information anywhere on their site

The beta will most likely be first come first served.  The Downloader problem is a known issue, alot of people just can't get it to work or when it does it downloads at like 1kb a second.  To solve this alot of people have found ways to use a bitorrent client directly instead of the SE downloader.  I just used the SE downloader and it took me 15-16 hours so I don't know the details of the other ways but I know there are rapidshares and torrents available around somewhere.
