Once you log in, go through the rest of the application process, which is nothing more than clicking agreements, if I remember correctly, and then the code is EMAILED to you.
**Well, seeing as how they're suspened now, guess it doesn't matter much.**

I dont know, that is just what the page said when I got past "server error" and was able to sucessfully log into my account.
I got to the account page, logged in and all - how the heck do I generate the code or whatever?
I made that mistake myself. You will need the account page later when you've got the code (under the "active service" or whatever it is section) but the first thing you need to do is actually get the code by filling out the app. That's way back on the botom of the page you're routed to from http://entry.ffxiv.com and not on the account page. (Yes, I know the wording says something about "logging in", it's not referring to the account page.)
Unfortunately, you'll likely encounter this page if you're looking in the right place.

That page just takes me to the log in screen? Like after I hit the apply for beta button.
what you had to do was login - choose your country then at the top of that page it said "Return to FFXIV Open beta registration" Click that then it brings you back through the process and on the final page for that it would ask you to accept the terms then send out an e-mail for your key... problem is some of us haven't gotten our e-mails in some time now and the page to choose to resend the key is gone... or we can't get to it.
If anyone knows some way of resending the key or the page to do so please let me know.. thanks.

From what I gather, you log in there instead, and then fill out the app it takes you to. (I've never been there, all I get is this screen.)
Then, after your application is dropped, they send you an email with the code. Then you register it on your account screen.
I'm on my 3rd day of downloading, so I don't think I have to worry about getting my code just yet. I've gone from 89% to 92% in 6 hours. SE kicks ass.
Ive done it in less than 2 hours. Your net kicks ass.
30MBPS connection... I download games on Steam at 3mb/s. Definitely not my connection. :P
I'm pretty sure he's trolling you.
Although I have to wonder if you're trolling me, what with saying you're on your 3rd day of downloading when the installer itself only started being distributed yesterday.
I think I'm at the page, so now I'm getting the "Applications for the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test have been temporarily suspended. Please wait until we are ready to accept new applications and then try again."
I am actually logging into the client, but I get this error 50002 The proper options must be added to a Final Fantasy XIV service account before a character can be created. Return to the login screen an access the SE Account Management System to add options.
When I confirm the status it shows that Final Fantasy XIV is registered and Active, so no clue WTF they are wanting me to add.
I just verified I can log into the DEV site as well which I couldn't before I registered my Open Beta Key. Anyone else getting the error above?

has anyone gotten as far as logging in from the beta client, and then getting a maintenance msg? just wondering if its worth it to refresh spam that one or if its legitimately under maintenance

I got past that and am now stuck at the log in page.
"Applications for the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test have been temporarily suspended. Please wait until we are ready to accept new applications and then try again."
It says the places to add a thingy is down for mantience!? I hope i get in...
was able to log in but no code is generated
pretty funky
i wonder if this is a reflection on how the actual game will be managed?
Yeah, I logged in and never saw a single thing that said anything regarding a registration code generation.
I opened every single link I saw and nothing led to that.

Can someone just please say how you generated the code (if you already have)? Because I have yet to find a page that allows me to do as such.

The login server of the game is the same with the authentication server for the signup site. Oh joy
