As an x DAOC player who loved faction conflict....fighting to take enemy keeps from an opposing faction..or defending my realms keeps..I loved that game. This game has factions..and pve...and pvp.Are there keep fights.Territory that can be captured and held to expand your factions realm?

Ok from what i can gather this is sorta how it works.. I might be wrong about a few things but this is the jist of it.. and keep in mind i never played DOAC lol so i cant really compare the two.. but still i hope this helps.

lvl's 1-39 are pretty much all pve, to get the hang of the mechanics/crafting/gear/class/ect.. And i HIGHLY suggest by then that you find you're self a active legion to roll with (as daily legion quests give you lots of good xp and you'll wanna roll with a legion in state wars.)

Then at lvl 40 you pick one out of the three factions (Wei/Shu/Wu) usually corrosponding with whatever the faction you're guild is that you joined.. Once you pick a faction you can be openly pk'd by other players (i'am not 100% sure but i think theres a way to lock you're self so you can't pk people or get pk'd by people but im not entirley sure, since i enjoy open pvp lol) but it never really becomes that much of a problem because theres lots of "safe zones" and if you get pk'd you can switch from 1-14 realms and pretty much guarantee you're self safe passage when you join some of the less populated realms.. So yeah 40-59 are pretty much spent doing the harder pve quests in the game / campaings aka instances / gearing towards end game gear / open world pvp..

PvP then ENTIRLEY opens up to you at 60 cuz you'll be able to chose you're sub class then and really customize you're own build (im talon+sabre for stealth+high crit burst dmg hehe) and wreacking havoc in tomb battles.. Tomb battles are when all 3 factions fight over one tomb.. They have to tackle NPC/Player ran towers all while fending off 2 other enemy factions.. It never really feels like a zerg rush because their's always a task to be completed admist the chaos and a lot of stratedgy since you're fighting off other factions and not just one.. Whatever faction takes the tomb over get's pvp credits that is spent on some really nice PvP-centric gear.

So yeah that's the tomb battle.. Then there's state-wars where legions take certain cities for them selves then start doing quests to construct towers and other defenses up around it.. They can also set the tax rate / get special buffs / ect while they own the city.. But other legions in a diff faction can declare war on the other legion and attempt to seige their fort and take it for themselves.. This is the true end game for HOTK and is just now starting to open up since you have to be a lvl 3 (or 4) legion to own one of these cities and only like 10 legions are lvl 4 atm cuz game jus came out like 1-2 months ago.. So you'll pretty much spend 60-80 getting the end-game titles and end-game gear so you can help defend you're legions/factions fort/tomb.

So yeah... If you like mass pvp you'll love this game im sure.. :)

Hellfyre420 that was very kind of you to provide that write up.You sure got my attention. My wife and I will be giving the game some playing time.We are both xDAOC veterans.I have a level 11  bowman atm.And my wife will be starting fresh.Do you have any suggestions on ranged attack classes ? Either mage, bowman or other ? Thanks again.

This game is awesome and there are alot of stuff to do. You can do daily quests to get some nice items (fishing, escort, treasure hunt....etc just to name a few).

The leveling is very fast since there are bonus experience everywhere. For example, you will get reward exp while you are in a clan, by staying online (get online points which can then trade for bonus experiences) or just from fortune boxes.

Bow is the only range class and it better suit as a secondary class (bow class cannot wear heavy armor), I dont have much experience in Bow, I heard they are very weak in 1v1 but very good in group pvp (like state wars). All the weapons are very balance and you can basically pick what suit you the best.

Can check out the description of weapons @ www.heroesofthreekingdoms-wiki.com

The game is not even 2 months yet and it is very active, the 3 kingdoms populations are balance and equal (atm). The cash shop items are helpful but not needed (they even gave you cash shop items every few levels).

    Hope you enjoy the game.

Scepter is another ranged class which is like a mage.  Devil is right that bows haven't really seemed that much of a threat in 1vs1, but I can see them being more useful now after participating in the first state wars last night.
