Is it a step up from FF11?

IMO

I prefer the job system in ff11 to the class system in ff14. I feel its alot more work for essentially the exact same thing. People are going to MAx/Min there stats for particular class and eventually there will be "right ways" to stat your class and "right ways" to assign abilities to each class. So im apprehensive that this was sold as an innovative feature to "customize your character" and I really thought it would pan out, but I dunno now.

Anyone want to explain to me how the class system will break down the barriers of the holy trinity?

Or provide a person with the opportunity to be  different and still usefull in events and parties? Does that seem likely?

Has this game in your opinion taken the best aspects of FF11(or even from 8 yrs of MMO experience) and translated that into a game where the mechanics work?

Just being the devils advocate and asking. Ill be playing the PS3 version cause I love me some console MMO but I want honest answers on where this game should have stuck with FF11 features and where it should have moved away from them. Do you think there are things we do not know yet that could affect the gameplay, mechanics and balance of the game?

I'd say any answer you get now is going to be null and void in two weeks.  At least two reasons:

    1. Because not a whole lot of people can even get in the game right now, whether it being (like me) issues getting their key or the open beta servers being bogged down.

    2. Because that "new game hype" tends to mess up somebody's real concept of the value of a game until it wears off.

I will say this much however: it will certainly be a step up in terms of the hardware you'll need to run the thing.  This game might require a computer that can run Crysis comfortably at a high resolution, and that's going to come as a shock to people who have been playing World of Warcraft, a game intended to run on computers made 7 years ago (about 2 years before the game's release).

Yea, definitely don't know, considering my and alot of other people are having zounds of issues from even booting the patcher to character select.
