Character creation - Basic appearance Types?

Ive made 3 character so far, different races, and there is a step between choosing race varation and face when you get to choose 4 different types? But i have no idea what it changes, i cant tell the difference between any of them, can someone help me out?
What does this option change?

As far as I could tell...they are just preset appearances....I was able to choose either one of them and make them look like another....the only difference I could see was on the facial markings....the tattoo on one preset was on the other side of another preset.
is that all it does I thought for sure when i made my second miqo'te that when i chose a different appearence type i had different hair and face options but maybe not. I didn't pay that close of attn to it. I'm not one of those people who are huge into customizing the way my char looks. As long as i can have red hiar and a hairstyle i think looks good i'm pretty happy.
