Help !! Residence area registration is killing me

lufiazlufiaz Member UncommonPosts: 122

Hi guys,

I'm living in Vietnam, Southeast Asia. Back then when I created a SE account to apply for FF XIV CB I had to use US portal as SE provided no country from the Asia - Pacific area, except Japan of course. From my past global MMO experiences with WoW and Aion, playing with an account registered as an US one when you're living somewhere else off their list is no big deal but not with FF XIV this time I suppose.

Quoting from SE account management site:

*Usable software and services will differ depending on your country and region of residence. When purchasing software, please verify that the software's region matches your account's registered region.

* Please note that you cannot change your country or region after registration has completed.

This has completely freaked me out. At first I thought that they are warning you not to buy the wrong product for your country but then FF XIV is not using any localized servers so there would be no EU/US/JP box, just FF XIV for all. The thought of SE would IP block those users not from their supported area keeps creeping me out. So what do guys think about it? Have you got any experience about this case or something familiar? I'm perfectly fine with limited or even no extra services from SE just because my country is not supported by SE but to be IP blocked is meh. Sent SE an email about my case but waiting for their reply is so damn painful image

Thanks in advance.

P.S: If any you are about to tell me not to waste my money because of the layered UI, the unresponsive mouse, the lack of instruction, no ! or ? on NPCs, "slow and boring" combat (or tatical instead) , boring crafting and gathering (yes, I remember someone here said this) or surplus EXP then dont waste your time. Layered UI? This is a FF game after all, mainstream UI would be nice but I guess that's impossible for PS3 users. Unresponsive mouse? Most probably because of your PC hardware but I still have a gamepad in the worst case, lol. And the rest are just COOL for me

As far as I have seen, the country selection portion is solely for who is going to deal with billing.  I don't think they could really do any kind of ip block since the whole world plays on the same servers anyway.
