  • I can deal with bugginess or other technical issues.  What I can't deal with is a crappy mmo and I can figure that out with or without bugs.  Once you've played enough of them you can tell the game's potential pretty quickly.  Does the world size support player control for land?  Does the world size support exploration and fun resource gathering?  How are instanced used?  Are they used too much or too little?  How is crafting?  Is it wow ezmode or does it require a bit more thought?  How about the economy?  Is it a player economy, a hybrid, or wow-esque bind on pickup nonsense?

Those are the questions that really matter to me.

In a crowded marketplace it can be disasterous as some recent examples like AoC or Warhammer.  It did not used to be so, SWG had a horrible launch, but after a year it was decent, EQ2 had a similar launch, it is still going strong.

Just rather depends on the game, how much they improve it.

Depending on your definition, there has never been a game with a smooth launch. I find it better to judge a game based on peer reviews instead of a buggy launch.

I don't mind if there are problems at launch for a game. I think that there will always be minor glitches in game and I don't think that you can write off a game for that. I mean, anything that is based in technology will have problems eventually, right?
