I stopped playing this in Beta 2 but was pretty interested in the game. I have played FFXI longer than any MMO and I believe it's one of the best MMOs.
But this, at least in beta 2, did not bring any of the good of FFXI too it.
FFXIV was pretty fun until I was done with the guild leaves/story quest. Then it was just boring grinding.
FFXI was almost the same way but when it came to the grind you actually had to get yourself out there talking to people it made the game much more inviting and enjoyable spending hours doing something with other people.
FFXIV it was pointless and slow to do stuff in a group and very bulky.
Forced grouping in FFXI made a lot of the mundane shit very fun, but in FFXIV it's just mundane shit you have to do solo.
So basically to all of those playing open beta now, have they actually added an incentive to group up with other people?

When you take a lev you have about 5 choices of difficulty from solo to 'raid'. The harder the lev the better the rewards. I havent actually got into a group yet but I have done * and ** levs.
So no?

If you dont consider better loot, more cash, and better xp to be incentive then no.
no, there is no incentive. Exp is not worth it compared to solo questing and at early levels even a mouse can one-shot wipe a group trying to do 5-Star quests. It's ridiculous. They probably tried to make this more casual-friendly with these extremly boring solo-grindquests, eliminating all what was good in FF XI in the process without even remotely understanding what it is, that makes an MMO casual-friendly. I mean leve-quests don't even pretend to have some sort of story. I mean, even WoW has little storys attached to the quests from the moment you set foot in your starting-area. Everyone who thinks, that FF XIV will be "story driven" is just delussional. Havening small bits of poinhtlesse FMVs every 10 Levels just won't cut it.
Thats too bad, nothing about FFXIV felt like they made it easy to interact with other players.
I couldn't examine, emotes a pain, grouping not important, chat log felt way to small.
The most intresting parts were the solo parts.

Better loot? Ok...More cash? ok...
Better XP? Physical XP yes. Class XP = no.
Soloing gets you faster Class XP. A team of 15 comprised of all classes, pugilist will get class up much faster than say...conjurer or thaumaturge or archer IN THE SAME TEAM.
Guess I can scratch this one off my list. Which is fine, it's still too big anyway.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
3-star levs are for groups. 5-star levs are for legions (aka raid).
Anyone know how to manage your own bazzaar? I found a way to put stuff on sale in my bazzaar, but then what? How do I manage that stuff and change the price and stuff? I can't even examine myslef to see what I have left.
Thats rather unfortanate. So bassicly the main way of progressing yourself (class XP) you get the best soloing.
This is FF so That is the longest grind also correct?
What does physical level do anyway?

Physical level is your stats, and your resists. You get points to allocate for every physical level you earn.
My GF was able to duo a 3 star leve....weirdness. And how big is a legion? I saw a group of 15 jap players die to a single crab....is that a legion or group?
Here's an idea, do the research yourself rather than relying on information people post in this thread... why? Because everyone saying group play isn't worth it has no idea what they are talking about at all. Grouping is VITAL to quickly levelingm however there are limmits. For Rank 10 levequests having a group of 5+ is alright provided you are doing the hardest difficulty, for Mob grinding a group of 3 - 4 is the best balance between survivability VS harder mobs and EXP gain from the grind. So long as in that small group you have a dedicated healer everyone in the group will be gaining constant experience. It may not be 300 experience for your job every kill (though sometimes I get close to that still) but in the end getting 150 - 200 per kill is more rewarding long-term because your down time in a group is near zero if you're working as a group properly. The greatest groups I've been in we are always fighting something, always gaining exp... grouping in this game is fun and well worth it.
Coming from closed Beta myself I know in closed Beta the grouping aspect blowed... in OB it's completely different where the levequest difficulties actually do drastically change the quest and how many people you require. You know why people are having a hard time leveling? Because they can't fight mobs that take away half their HP with one hit because they don't have a healer supporting them.

Here's an idea don't start your posts off being a jerk, and also how is asking people's opinion on somthing not a form of reserching. Especially since SE is known for not telling you jack about anything.
I remeber my glad with the pug heal skill getting 150-300 around level 14 easy solo with absolutly no downtime/danger of dying.
It's all based on what your character does though I could get 300 in a very quick fight if im lucky or get 100 in a fight that takes forever.
