FFXIV OPEN BETA. why cant i log in? please help!!

hello all. so i got my open beta key, registered the account and the service. The site says i have access to the open beta. I successfully update the client to the most current version. However, when i hit login it goes to a maintenance screen saying something about the server is currently unavailable because of maintenance. What am i doing wrong? Can someone verify this for me plz? I just dont understand why its going to a maintenance screen and not letting me log in. Thanks for any help
