Secret Ban Wave Sept 4th

There was a secret ban wave today on Mortal Online.  Several prominent MO players were banned.   Most of these players were temp banned for screendragging exploit, but others were perma banned for more serious offenses or repeated exploiting after a temp ban.

Since the mortal online forums do not allow talks of bans or accusing other players of cheating most forum posts about this were deleted by the mods.  However the forums exploded earlier today with dozens of posts about the bans.  Since we can't talk about the bans on the Mortal forums I'd figure I'd bring the discussion to the MMORPG.com forums.

We do not have any more GMs that are playing the game, the ones we have now is not biased, the funny thing is that both sides of the conflict says the exact same thing. We would only be stupid if we helped one side as thats not how to make a mmo grow. We would never help one side as it would only ruin the game development.

Hmm, last time I heard, players were never banned from the game.. nah JK aside.

But really, there is allways a good reason behind each ban/temp ban.

There are a few bugs that lets players exploit the game in a few areas which will result in a temp ban if you are being catched, sometime the ban comes a bit later, the GMs have lots on their tables atm. As long as people doesnt exploit or cheat you will not get your account banned. So if you suddenly have a banned account, you should think twice before screendragging or exploiting the game mechanics to get into things you shouldnt be able to.( im not saying that you did x or x, just informing what bans are valid for) We are working as hard as we can to solve those bugs to prevent this from happening. If you think something went wrong then please submit a ticket and the support team will look into details. Thank you for your understanding.

Actually those people were banned for using axes against a wooden palisade and for someone glitching open a door.  Why using axes against a wooden palisade is a bannable offense I do not know.. but that is what happened.

 

If you have a link to some other information that describes this "ban wave" for  (as you put it) screendrag exploit please share it.  I would love to read up on it as I understand that has become quite the issue lately.

People have been being banned all along for hacking. It's just yesterday/day before there was a wave of bans given out from back-logged bans that were due. The palisade was bugged only having a low amount of HP, I believe they were told not to hit that palisade or something along those lines (?)

Many got a 3day ban for exploiting the screen dragging. Others perma banned for repeat exploiting / using hacking.

The axes on the palicade is legit. They were banned but for only the keep door, which is up in the air since someone else possibly opened the door from the inside.  

 

About 13 people total were banned for the hour.  And some weren't even involved.

Same should have been done the other way around since the keep that was attacked did the same thing on the attacking forces keep.

Were did you pull that number out of?

Since StarVault doesn't talk about bans how would you know 13 people were banned?

So all 13 of those players were in your alliance or just your guild?  I wonder how many players were banned from the opposing clan or alliance?

Now that I shared.. how about you share the source of your claim about the mass banning for "screendrag exploit".  As I said above, I look forward to reading it since I know that has become quite an issue.  It would be quite good news if you could support your claim!

 

Edit to add: BTW.... I hardly think 13 people getting banned for an hour is newsworthy, but whatever...

This isn't a court room. It's an MMO forum. Us - meaning the people actually playing probably aren't making this up. People were banned. Quiet a few of them. For various reasons.

 Fair is fair... if someone makes a claim AND asks me to show the source of my response..  I think it only fair to ask the person to similarly show the "source" of the "Secret Ban Wave" described in this thread....

You have to show a source because you don't/never have(?) played the game. You rehase forum posts, forum rumours, irc rumours and make a huge fuss about them. So when what you say or 3rd party source says doesn't ring true to actual players at these events or ingame we ask for a source.

It was various people that were involved in the attack of the keep, all were alliance members.  Even people that were in route to help with the keep attack that weren't even at the location yet got banned.  As for the Counselor killing and banning I have heard the same thing from people in my alliance although I wasn't there, I believe they were telling the truth.  

 

I've personally even seen a GM pull someone out of a fight when he was pretty close to dying.

Well we'd need to know the reason the GM killed those players. If they were screendraggers trying to escape then hell yes have them killed.

 Hate to break this to you:  Unless you were involved in the incident (you were a player that was banned or you were a GM banning) you are still passing on second and third party information about the incident.   As I said, if you want to ASK for sources (as the OP did) you should be prepared to provide your own. Of course you can choose not to do so.. and everyone will be free to weigh your claims on that matter as well.

Now back on topic.  Can anyone provide some sort of confirmation of the claims in the OP of a "Secret Wave of Bans" targetting screendraggers?

I don't think it was ever stated Slapp, I think it's just hearsay about being a Secret Ban.  It's no secret people were banned for only 1 hour.  No one else was banned other than that and there's 60+ people in the VoIP.

 These two claims are stunning, but probably deserve their own thread so as not to hijack this one.  If you care to discuss it further and make a thread I would be fascinated to hear more.

Well we'd need to know the reason the GM killed those players. If they were screendraggers trying to escape then hell yes have them killed.

I didn't personally see a GM kill a player, but ya if that player is using hacks to get away from combat the gm should kill that player in order for the other players to loot there gear.

I really don't mind this at all.. I haven't personally experianced anyone hacking to get away from combat, but if they did I wouldn't mind there gear too as long as the hacker was banned.
