Does FFXIV have an official forum?

There are two huge issues that need to be dealt with:

#1 Controls

I have a PC 360 controller. No I don't want to use it. If I wanted to play an MMO with console type controls, I would have gone to play Demon Souls. I know it's not a full MMO, but it's pretty damn close. And if I cared enough about controllers, I would have been running all my previous games off the controller;  I know there are software mods to do this.

#2 Console port much?

Anyone else feel like this is a console port?  I thought SE stated that this was a PC game and both versions are being done on different engines. Well, explain to me, why the flaming hell is there a software mouse? I play StarCraft 2 and Team Fortress 2 like they're a religion, the mouse delay in this game is probably 200-300MS and it's REALLY noticable. I don't really care about the menus, because I'm accustomed to it from FFXI, but we're now in 2010....a half assed job for coding input devices just won't cut it.

#3 Communication from developers

Honestly, this is why Blizzard is still the #1 PC developer (along with Valve). Both of these developers listen to their community. In the past 4 months, people on SC2 have been screaming BUFF ZERG. What's happening next patch? Terran and Protoss are getting nerfed so Zerg is indirectly buffed (I agree Zerg needed a buff, even though I'm a random main). Valve brings its most popular community mods into mandatory patches (maps, modes, etc.). What has Square-Enix done? Absolutely nothing. The worst part about this is the fact that they STILL refuse to let you full-screen tab alt. This was a deal breaker in FFXI until people found a work around...now literally 6 years later we still have the same problem!

TLDR

Different, more difficult game is good. Poorly executed I/O is bad. Plus there's no way for us to tell the devs "you guys screwed up".

I live to go faster...or die trying.
