Wanted to share this for the people who are still playing the OB. Should help you with how to fully utilize your retainer and find the shops people are setting up.
Once you get your retainer you have to set them up in one of the market wards if you want them to actually act as a bazaar. I'm not sure where the market wards are in all the cities but in Limsa Lominsa they're located in the Southern Islands area (off the Upper Decks). You teleport into them and can then setup your retainer to act as a bazaar for you. More Info Here
This new system is a vast improvement over FFXI. Retainers can be used for just storage (80 more slots) or they can be setup to operate a Bazaar 24/7 whether or not you're logged in.
