im trying to do some smithing (bought a hammer and pliers from a smith vendor) im curious, as to where i might learn recipes?  im not having luck blind guessing ores and things to try and combine at all, would a final fantasy 11 synthesis list be applicable?

Ok, I don't know for certain but...

A: I doubt the crafting recipes from 11 would apply here in 14.

B: I haven't started crafting yet, but always assumed that picking up a leve for the craft your doing would at least give you the idea of what materials are needed to make a few items, at least the items needed for that leve.   From there, not entirely sure but figured it's probably the best place to start.

There doesn't seem to be in game recipes, you'll either have to experiment with various materials or check a website that has a list of known recipes.

here are the problems im having, the only leves i see are for gathering, which i did pick up the mining one to learn, and combat.  so i must need to be a disciple of the hand to get crafting ones or i have terrible luck, and i did pick up a smith hammer and pliers to make sure, but im having no luck synthening ores ive found.  the reason i suggest 11 stuff might work at least early on is because of the similarities in other ff sequels crafting.

 Crafting leves are handed by the 2nd NPC at the guidleve counter i believe

Good site for recipes.

As far as quests. You can get local levequests. In LL it's right beside the guy that gives the regional levequests.
