Square Enix done well

Despite my overreation to the game at the beginning I am finding the game much more enjoyable now than I did at first. It has a nice storyline with a sandbox style of play which is completely different than what we have been given over the years. Sure the UI issue will be there for some but Square Enix is just a company that tries to shove console UI into a mouse and keyboard. Some will like it some won't but overall the gameplay is like FFXI which many FFXI fans will enjoy.

I'm not exactly thrilled with the fatigue system because I don't feel people should be forced to play other characters when they don't want to. I don't feel I should be told what to do when I bought the box and will pay the monthly fee. On the other hand if you are playing more than 8 hours a day then something is really wrong somewhere unless you are that wealthy enough not to work and have all day or you are just a young kid with no responsibilities at all. For me I work 5 out of 7 days a week so the fatigue system won't effect me that much. I also heard form a guildmate that there is some kind of quest you can do to regain some of your lost xp as well so I don't think overall it is as bad as some make it out to be.

Lastly, if you are going to whine about that this game is not like the rest of the button mashing mmos out there that are so simple and easy to play then clearly this game will not be for you and you should go back to WoW or even go back to playing pong or asteroids. I mean seriously, if you are simply unable to grasp the features of this game then you seriously need to go back to shool instead of whining like a 5 year old.

I'm glad I took the time to go over about what I originally thought of the game and realize that Square Enix is doing a good job because I would be missing out on a good game to play.

OP topic is just a basic response to another thread. All the OP does is try to offend other players who have opinions. Don't feed this thread.

    Well done. Nicely said.

I do however, have a point to make about the fatigue system. I don't like either though, but it will "protect" the players against themselves. Simply because you can't rush towards the end-game content and complain about the lack of content. Also, no more 24-48 hours straight gaming the first week. This way, people can just continue on with their regular lives.

Anyone that actually has a full time job knows you can only play 2-3 hours tops each day.

I also read, that once you stop doing things that you receive EXP from, the fatigue starts to "charge" again. This will also come as something good to be honest.

To be perfectly honest: I am old enough to know what's good for me and what's not. I'm perfectly capable to balance RL, Job, Girlfriend and my MMO-Hobby, thank you very much. And if one is not, it's their problem, i'm sorry. We are not in China where some bureau decides how i have to live my life. If i want to slack off and play 48h without pause, it's my damn choice and I have to live with the consequences. The fatique-system is only in place to mask the ugly truth that there is no high-level-, let alone endgame content in place yet, i guess.

I agree with you OP, it's turned out to be a pleasant surprise for my wife and I. The controls are really nothing new from traditional MMO's, WASD to move and R mouse to move camera ( mouse lag for me hasn't been an issue since I cut occlusion off in the config utility). I think there are many who are disapointed simply because everything isn't hotkeyed ( i.e. B for inventory, C for character sheet, ect.) but so far that hasn't bothered me in the least. The leves remind me of the training regemes that they have in XI. They won't be the end all to leveling but they'll help to move you along faster. The world to me seems very immersive especially the weather effects, when it rains it starts as a drizzle and then the bottom falls out lol. The story is engaging and gets you involved in the world around you, and the world itself is easy to traverse ( except for the other pc's b-lining straight for you and bumping into you.) Combat took a little adjusting to but it's fairly easy, Enter to target the closest mob, TAB to change targets and number bar to attack. All in all a good and poliished game.

What?  That's exactly how it plays.  So far it's exactly like every button masher I've played.

As 8Archer/14Physical,  I spam my normal attack until I have TP then I hit my TP.  As I get buffs, I buff my TP skill.  Pretty much it looks like this:(because I use the second bar for my TP moves I have to use 1-1 1-2 1-3  2-1 2-2 2-3 for examples)

    1-1 x3

    2-1

    1-1 x3

    2-1

then once I got buffs it turns into

    1-1 x3

    2-3 2-2 2-1

    1-1 x3

    2-3 2-2 2-1

...so in essence I'm hitting a total of 4 'skills'.   When you consider that most other games have auto attack and this one doesn't, you pretty much can remove the 1-1 and make it 3 skills.

Heck, the lack of autoattack makes this game that much more of a button masher. lol

Don't get me wrong, I'm having fun and I like it despite it's flaws... and boy is it ever flawed.  I guess I"m just so used to FFXI that most of the games problems don't bother me too much. (although I do expect a bunch of these issues to be gone once it's live... like the lag both server and UI)  However for the standard MMO market, this game is crap and nothing more than a niche game, which I apparently belong to. ^_^b

Hey I am surprised by your change of heart Saint. Judging by your avatar and most previous post prior to this. It is very clear Guild Wars 2 is your main course meal.
If I am wrong, please forgive me. It is nice to see you were able to get by and see potential even though the game is not really pc user friendly. If you are maybe interested in trying the game at retail. SE has some very useful and informative fansites. To help get you situated here are the links:
www.eorrzeapedia.com**www.ffxivcore.com And there is an armorysite in the works.
I am going to be trying GW2, FFXIV, SWTOR and maybe TERA.
FFXIV will prolly be my primary, unless they really botch everything which is doubtful.
    Have fun.

This game is button mashing with the only disadvantage that you have very limited movement while in combat. So I ask, can a combat system get worse than that?

Reordered my CE version and I plan to play for a long time and yes GW2 will always be my bread and butter. GW2 might not be here for another year so that gives me a year full of FFXIV goodness until GW2 gets here. I can always resub to FFXIV if and when GW2 starts to get too repetitive for me.

Not everyone who says this game has a lot of problems and is bad dislikes the game.  Take hotdogs or Taco Bell food for example.  I think both of these foods are 'bad'. yet I'll still eat them and even so for some unknown reason I'll crave them from time to time.

It is possible to like something that is bad just as it's possible from something to be good and not liked.  Human minds are funny that way, perception and relativity keep things from being cut and dry.

On a different note, it's getting annoying to see all these fans who can't take the truth.  Stop looking for validation from other people.  If you like the game you like the game.  It doesn't matter how many flaws and problems it has nor does it matter that it's not for the masses.  Be happy that you like the game and accept the truth of the matter.
