Need some help, New to FF MMO's and want to give it a true shake!

Hello everyone,

    Let me start by saying I have never played FF xi, so I am coming into this new and fresh. With that said, I have download the game, keep it patched, but havent had time to set down and play other then maybe 10 mins. And it seems slow, but part is I am not sure what I am doing since there is no tutorial. So what I was wanting to know is there somewhere I can go and read on alot of what I need to know, basic stuff so I can come in with some basic skills. What I wanting to know is how many classes can 1 toon be, what does each class do, if you die how do you get back up on your feet, etc etc etc. I havent deside if I want to pre order the game yet, but I want to give this game a true chance. I have read the + and the - reviews, but I know I am the only one that can know if its RIGHT for ME. And from those review i find things I love and i also find things that bother me.

 

  One thing that bothers me, is the mouse thing. I have my mouse set up for MMO's and its 3200 dpi etc, and it works great in game up to the point of getting on a toon, then it gets slow, so I have been looking for a mouse option to make it more sensitive in game, with out having to change my sensitivity on the computer totally, but this isnt a breaker. I know that SE is holding some if not a large part back for launch and the first 6 months of launch.

 

  Anyways, any help or information you can give me will help, and thank you for your time.

Just forget about FFXIV and go play FFXI. That's my sound advice. That is more of an experience over all, so you'd best see what they had first before trying to see what they have now. FFXIV isn't an improvement over FFXI, so why bother with it?

Well I'll answer a few of your questions at the beggining here.

Your toon can be as many classes as you want it to be just buy the weapon for that class and start leveling. If you die you can go into your menu and hit return and it will send you to the last atheryte you were at and then you just wait for weakening to go away. As far as the mouse goes this is a problem for everyone right now, as I stated in another post they are not using your hardware drivers for your mouse and therefore your mouse is effected by lag from the game. This needs to be fixed or I don't think I'll buy the game in all honesty simple fix here SE for something very frustrating every other game does it why can't they?

If you want some help and ideas on what to do when you start out and good descriptions of classes and how things work, I'd check out http://ffxivcore.com right now it seems to be the best source for information that I can find. Very helpful people and the wiki is getting better everyday.
