13001 the lobby server connection has encountered an error

in Final Fantasy XIV

anyone know what is going on with OB and the game client in particular?  theres nothing on the ffxiv beta website and nothing saying that servers are down so what exactly is going on here?

    and thats exactly it.... "Servers are down" for maint.

    The servers are down with no time frame given for when they will be back up.

    We are currently experiencing technical difficulties where players are unable to access FINAL FANTASY XIV.



    To address these issues, we will be performing emergency maintenance on all worlds starting from the time listed below. During this maintenance period, FINAL FANTASY XIV will be unavailable for play.

    We currently do not have an estimate on when maintenance will end, but we will be sure to let you know as soon as it is finalized.

    * The Beta Tester Site will continue to be available during maintenance.
