I FINALLY got everything patched up last night, and when I went to log in the servers were down. Went to bed, woke up, and now my game won't open at all. It's telling me the short cut is for a version that has been changed and asks me to delete. Tried going into programs to try that but it does the same thing.
Can anyone help!?! I'd really rather not uninstall and try to reinstall because it'll take another 18 hours of patching.

Just me then?
I've never experienced a beta with as much annoying headaches just to get into the game. I literally had to let my game patch the entire day yesterday, and then SE does something that breaks everything.
I already want to blow up their offices and I haven't even gotten into the game yet.

You are not alone, many had issues with the loader. After applying another patch this morning, I was able to get in. Your case where the shortcut stopped working seems unique, havn't heard that one from other players yet. Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling. I know, a real pain. Sorry I have no better solution.
Have you tried running the ffxivboot.exe in the ffxiv folder?
Are you by chance also using the closed beta client? If so you would have had to download the new OB client seperately.
You don't need to uninstall in order to fix a shortcut.
Try going into your installation folder and running the game with "ffxivboot.exe".
Default is C:Program FilesSquareEnixFINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version
I tried that, but it didn't work. none of the exe's in that folder did anything.

Reinstall the game then.
That's what I'm doing, going at a decent speed right now, but I worry it'll just do the same thing again. It was really weird it's like the game moved itself somewhere else or something and all the short cuts broke.
When I tried the patcher exe, the launcher exe and any of the others they didn't do anything.

Mine worked just fine. What operating system are you ruinning ? I'm on Windows 7 Home and so far no issues at all.
