ive played GW for some time years ago and wanted to try it again, but...
after installing, putting in my acc/pass i was presented with a new security feature - you have to put in character's name
now, how the hell am i supposed to remember some randomly generated nick years ago?
ive contacted the support on sunday morning and send the request for the retrieval of the name, i got pretty quick response from some GM to send some details about the account and i provided those
now it's 30 hours later and im still waiting for an answer... is this normal? i've contacted them again and again through the web support option and they replied that NCSoft support is working on a problem... that was about 12 hours ago
has anyone had any dealings with those people before? is this normal thy keep you waiting days on end to resolve the issue?
on the other note the entire NCSoft support/log in website is a bloody mess, i mean theres two different log in credentials for the support page and then for the master account!

I had to go through these steps a while back, it took about 3 days for them to get the info to me, which in the end was a waste lol I played GW again for about 30 minutes than emebered how awful and boring it is....
I dont think you can expect full support in a time where they have been busy with PAX and now its Labour Day

jeez, they're having a laugh, 3 days?! i hope GW2's support wont suck as much...
Well, it were both during the weekend and APX, and there is the question if you can and should expect the same service from a B2P game as when you pay 15 bucks a month.
I never had any problems with them myself but you can't really expect 24/7 customer service with a B2P game, give it some time.
Start a new account. It will save a lot of time, quite possibly counted in years. The password protection move they made was obviously designed to catch people unaware and to maximise profits by forcing customers to rebuy by offering sod all customer services.
Accounts getting hacked was a major issue, they dealt with that by making you type in your characters name as well as your password.
And after you've typed that in once, you don't have to type it in again as long as you tick the box that says so.
This is not a game.
They will solve your problem, relax.
Meanwhile you can search for some old screenshots to check your character name.
no screenshots available ive changed my computer twice since i played the GW back in 2006th...
well, i guess a have to be patient, if not, ill just get a new all in one box for 10 quid with new game keys...
update: still nothing... 3 days now... wow, now that's a record
Send them angry e-mail. Last time when i was hacked it worked for me.
It took them over a week to get back to me when I had the same issue. I could remember my character first names, but none of their surnames.
And as it turned out, on the day before they got back to me one of my friends remembered one of the character names.
Like someone else that posted above, after all that I only ended up playing for about two hours...
