PC reboot problem

idk whats wrong!

My whole pc reboots everytime I try to play FFXIV... It never rebooted before.

I ran benchmarks & stress test on my gpu & ram & there's no problem what so ever, everything runs perfectly.

I'm currently running Prime95 for a cpu torture test. I just started it & I want to run a standard 24h test; 2h & so far so good.

What the hell could be wrong?

Anyone else is having this problem?

Help!

13h in & still so far so good... Max temp got to 62. Its a bit hot but  very tolerable for a cpu in a torture test. I'm sure I could get that easily under 60 if I reapplied new thermal paste.

Still, thats not the problem it seems. I've ran all the tests on my hardware & its running fine without errors.

Why do I reboot on FFXIV?!

  • radtweakradtweak Member Posts: 83

First I would turn off autorestart under system failure, which is right click My Computer then properties> Advanced>startup and recovery (in XP, similar in Win7/vista but I can't double check right now) this will hopefully give you a bluescreen with an indication to a filename (usually with FFXIV it's a video driver file like ATIxxx.dll or NVxxx.dll) .

My works PC here with a ATI HD4890 kicked out as soon as it launched with anything lower than 10.8 CAT Drivers after that it was fine.

Thank you for your help. :)

Ok, I did what you said, but I don't get a blue screen... It just reboot.

I swear, my last attempt didn't even get passed the black laoding screen & rebooted.

I checked my drivers & its up to date... this is really getting annoying.

    /cry

Have you tried setting the FFXIV config program for both windowed mode and fullscreen with the same result?

This happended to me before and believe it or not what fixed it was resetting the CPU clock back to it's default settings.  I had it set for a higher clock rate.  If you did not change any of the default cpu speed settings, then ignore this suggestion.

I think it might be an DirectX problem...

I just got this message: " Unable to detect DirectX device"

Only got that message once but the DirectX device is there... I can play anything else but FFXIV.

Windowed mode still made my pc reboot. I even lowered the setting a bit to give my system a chance.

Cpu max temp was 47 & gpu 55... so its not heat.

    ------

Ok, I'm going to try to reset my cpu clock & try again.

here's my full spec while I'm at it:

    650W psu

    Q6600 oc'd @ 3.2

    460 GTX sc 763 1024

    8G 800DDR2 oc'd 1003

    500G HD

    rw-dvd-cd

    dvd-cd

Try running Prime95 together with FurMark (a good GPU stress test program).

You probably meant "DirectX" instead of "activeX"? If yes, see here:

I already ran Prime95 for 16 hrs with no errors. I'll try FurMark. So far I was using evga Oc scanner tool.

     Nope, not working for me.

I starting to lose hope here...

I played FO3 at ULTRA setting for a while a bit earlier & it was running flawlessly.  I've never add any problem with anything I ran on this pc so far. Why can't I play FFXIV?!

Edit: Last place I see where there could be the problem is the psu. This really sux!

You can go to the event viewer in control panel, administration tools. Look what kind of critical error you get. This can tell you what software is in conflicts.

At the point you are maibe going back to the basics will help you. Scan disc, defrag, re-install directx, drivers and even the game if you still have the patch files.
