WoW, why should i play it?

So here iam, just quit SWG after a year of great times ( well the first 8 months or so were great ) a Jedi Knight, finished template, never ran from a fight, only lost once ( an 8 Man Bounty hunter gank squad ) so i would say i did it all on there, mastered all profs, ran the biggest imperial guild on my server

but due to a total lack of content, broken promises from SOE ( the ranger prof has been broken since day one and is still exactly the same ), they claim the combat revamp will change the game, yeah it will make people group again, but how about fixing the broken profs?, adding some content?

ah well, me and my 100+ guild all canceled our accounts last week and are not returning to SWG

ok enough about that, onto this post!

i watched the movie of the Dragon on fileplanet, 3 guilds getting it down to 65% health then getting slaughtered, well on SWG, a single person can take down the strongest thing on the game lol

also from wot ive heard about WoW, im very impressed, and it looks like its going to be my next stop, ive read many reviews, IGNS first impressions, which does nothing apart from diss the launch and blizzard for their first mmorpg ( fastest selliing game every IGN, give em some credit ) , yeah it looks like its had problems but the demand has been insane, but i hear its all good now

i was also wondering if there is player cities in WoW because from wot ive seen there isnt, can a guild have their own town/city?

but all in all , just give me some reasons to buy this game when it comes out here in the UK ( im entering the beta ) wots good, wots bad, why is it better than other MMORPG

Erm only reason to ever buy a mmorpg is if you like it.

So  why do we need to give you any reason as its purely subjective if you like it or not.

Also you said you are in EU beta so therefore you will be able to play the game and say for yourself if you should buy it or not.

i asked why should i, as in wots good about it, im not going to buy it just on other peoples views, im just interested to know how good the game is, whats good about it, as i point out in my post

im asking people why should i play it, whats so good about WoW for it to get such amazing reviews and mass sales, still dont get my post?, probably not, wanker

Well, how about because he can't possibly cover the entire world in one beta, so by asking here he can gather information about other races/areas/whatever? Because he wants to gather info about what might be good or bad prior to the beta so he can try those aspects out and see if he agrees? Maybe he'd like to be more informed about the game before leaping into it.

Yes, it's all subjective and you do need to suck it and see, but doing research on what other people think of the game is an intelligent use of Internet resources. I won't be in the beta since there are (apparently) no places left. Since Blizzard seem to have no plans to hand out free trial licenses, I'm interested in hearing other people's opinions of the game so that I can take a balanced view on spending cash on a game I may not like.

For the record, I'm on this site to find an MMORPG I actually like. I've been through several trials and watched my partner playing another game. I'm beginning to think the entire genre is just something I can't stand because I thought all of them were either bug-ridden, boring, or unplayable.

Wow, you expected people to go gung ho helping your and writing a 2000 word essay on why this game is really good and welcoming you into the game? It sure looks like you are expecting that. While, ironically, you yourself are too lazy to write words like "you" and "what" full out and too lazy to find the things you're asking for in one of the 48202845472 threads where people talk about WoW's good points, and then proceeding to totally flame the first guy that tried to help you and afterwards even flame the entire MMORPG.com community?

  No player cities or housing at the moment.   Playing both WoW and EQ2 at the moment,  I think that EQ2 is would be more suited to your SWG guild experience.  There are no player cities in EQ2, but there is player housing and it goes up to guild halls. 

  Of course on the other hand there is absolutely no PvP in EQ 2, so it depends what is important for you.

There is no reason for you to play this game at all.  You have basically conquered the world and you are the greatest human being alive thus leaving you nothing else to do.

Is that what you wanted to hear? because i'm sure as hell we didn't want to know about your grindtastic 'achievements' in that hideously bugged, shoddy, rushed out MMO.

read a review. havent played the game yet but from what I hear from reviews (especially gamespots) and the european beta testers/US ppl its DA BOM of a game.

But test the Beta out at first, that should make so ya get your own idea about the game.

Some people like the EQ style, some like the softer WoW style of game.

Personaly i like WoW. It wont be as time consuming. You wont need to be online 8 hours every day just to get

Why is WoW so good? Well, it certainly isn't innovative! There's nothing new here. Nothing we didn't find anywhere else.
But what IS new is that most of the things they put in the game are implemented very very well!
The world looks great. When you walk through a forest you will actually feel like you're in a forest.. (as oppose to some other games I could mention.) When you're in a cave you actually feel the shortage of oxygen (and you'll notice your party members will slowly go nuts because of it.)

The game feels real, if you will. Its a fantasy game, but because of the seemless world and the attention spent on detail, it nearly comes to life.

And as for other aspects of MMORPGs, well, you'll find they've been thought out quite well.

And then there's the 8 races and 9 classes to choose between.

Then there is the rather fair economy and the quite nice professions... not to forget, the fishing skill

And of course there's loads of humor in the game.

There is no current housing system. But, I'm sure that'll come with some future expansion.
Guilds and PvP need a little work according to me.. but I haven't been around for too long, so what do I know

If all your 100 members quit SWG and all play the same MMORPG, then WoW is gonna own!!!

EQ2 and WoW are two MMORPGs that cannot be soloed.  SWG was soloable I didn't even bother joining a guild anymore cause the game was so easy.  As a matter a fact, grouping actually slowed me down.  Which is supose to be the total opposite.

Anyways, you chose.  EQ2 and WoW both require groups and guilds.  You cannot solo these games or else it will take you forever.  MAybe even never cause some quests are too hard doing alone, you need backup.

I say go for WoW... it's balanced.  Great graphics.  It may lack the character customization SWG had.  No lag.  No loading in between zones like Everload 2... I mean Everquest 2.

Anyways, I don't understand you... if you really had 100 members in a guild, and they all quit SWG... what MMORPG did they chose?  NOthing?  Come on... they had to have switched to some MMORPG.  I know most of my friends switched from SWG to WoW... which is why I'm in WoW.  Some of them went to EQ2, but I couldn't stand the loading time, the lag and Experience-Debt!!!  In WoW, if you die, you lose nothing.  You just have to walk to your corpse, resurect and you lose nothing. If you ask the Angel to resurect you without going to your corpse, all your items lose 5% durability.  So just walk to your corpse, no debt, no damaged items!  I love WoW!!!!

You're going to play it regardless, who are you kidding. I love all the idiots who say that there's nothing innovative in this game, heh. Tell me where else you've ever felt so close to/part of the world (this is assuming you're actually playing to play, not beat it).
