But i love using just the keyboard to play. I wish i could set up all mmo's to play using just the keybaord for me it is much easier to do everything. I have never been good at having to hit macros or abilities by using number keyes when one had was forced to be on the mouse. Now that i don't need the mouse at all i always have a free hand to hit the number keys during battle or sometimes when i'm in battle i just use the arrow keys to select ability and hit enter.

The only bad thing is this is going to ruin all other mmo's because they don't allow me to set my keyboard up in a way that i don't need to use a mouse.

Any one else actually love using just the keyboard or am i the only one. The only thing i can't figure out how to do without using my mouse is selecting the AOE option for my spells. I still seem to have to use my mouse for that unless someone can shed light on what key to use on the keyboard to select it.

with all that being said they do need to get rid of the ui,crafting vendor lag badly.

    I like my mouse.  :(

Objectivity is delivered with a lack of personality made for the mainstream but never used for the mainstream.

I totally understand that. maybe it has the fact wit h i hate shooter games so i find no need to use the mouse to control movment. But if games like lotro/wow would allow me to use my keyboard like in ffxi and ffxiv i would be a happy camper just like those of you who want to be able to use your mouse in this game.

I also like keyboard-only for FFXIV, but I've been used to keyboard-only gaming since I started playing Dungeon Fighter 2 years ago so I definitively wasn't affected by this as much as other players. Vendor and Crafting lag is pretty bad, though I haven't had any lag with the UI itself, highly possible that the cause for both vendor/craft lag and UI lag are different, just a guess though.

I'd have to say that I'm actually in the minority as I have no issues using the mouse :P I prefer gamepad and using the mouse for menus and targetting, the gp for movement and skill selection, etc. I'm weird...

Besides that, my gf prefers keyboard only  and my old guildie from Aion as well, so you wouldn't be the only one =)

by UI lag i was more so referring to crafting equipping skills and equipment when ever you select something there is a pause before the action takes place now getting to the screen is not laggy for me. Though i am still buying this game because i'm having fun. Using just the keyboard allows me to actually watch the combat for once instead of my hot bar's cooldowns.

The vocal minority, perhaps.  Judging by Square-Enix's reports of preorders picking up, I'd say more people were content enough with what they saw in open beta to have overcome hte interface hurdle just fine.

You aren't so weird. I also prefer playing with my keyboard only. Pretty much anything you do with a mouse can be done faster with a keystroke, besides camera movement.

For camera movement, I liked FFXI's controls where the directional arrows controlled the camera. SE has already stated they are having this the same way for the release of FFXIV, so I will be playing with the keyboard only as well. Not to mention you can kick back and relax in your recliner, with your keyboard on your lap, and game in comfort!

yeah you do say overcome it the hurdle and order any way but to me it is the preferred way to play. That is the difference i'm getting at i guess.

Ah my bad, thought by UI lag you meant UI taking too much time to appear or something. I have experienced the lags you have mentionned, but Macro's seems to have helped me get past this issue without much trouble.

I will also be pre-ordering FFXIV, I've enjoyed the game quite a bit so far.

Cool that is one thing i was hoping for to be able to map my camera controls to my arrow keyes like in ffxi. I liked that in ffxi i could navigate the menu when it was up with the arrow keyes. didn't have to move my hands back and forth from jkli to arrow keys in XI. This is good news to me.
