How many people have read the beta guide

Its not WoW my friend. Most popular things create standards.If someone stay away from this set standards it becomes niche and not so many ppl will try it or give it a chance.Its how it is in life...Its not just gaming,its everything...If BMW creates a car that millions will buy it becomes a standard for other car companys to follow.Thats why we dont have cars with no servo wheel anymore

Heh, yeah hes still searching for a shield I found in a bazaar the moment I logged in in the A.G. I will let you know when it works out...

I actually only learned of the existence of the Beta Guide 3 days after I had started playing (last week basically). But by the time I had found the Beta Guide, I had already figured out pretty much every command, macros, crafting, npcs and merchants, etc.

 

People don't really "need" the Beta Guide to learn how to play XIV, just testing various keys and skills as you play was more than enough to get the overall feeling of the game. Plus there's a lot of informations about the various systems in FFXIV that NPCs will explain to you in great details.

 

But as we all know.....a lot of players simply don't read and then claim that the game sucks, and that "x" sucks, blablabla. Had they taken even 30 seconds to read a simple and well-made text box, they wouldn't have had any issues. Hell, you can clearly tell SE  put some efforts into the Dialogs, shame many people just won't bother to read them, let alone reading the guide or even looking around on Google.

I read it on the day I first installed the game, which is actually unsual for me as I usually just dive straight in.   I'd seen that you couldn't attack, without being in the correct mode.  So I looked into while patching, and ended up reading the whole thing.

I glanced at it to be honest, haven't actually read the entire thing, though I know i probably should.

I'm not taking the game to seriously until it comes out since characters will be wiped. I just wanted to test out some things and see the state of the game, am happy with it so far.

I will however probably read the official manual when it's released.

I think Xpiher's post was mostly geared towards players who joined thinking it's free release, were bothered by various commands and features and didn't bother looking into it by reading the manual or asking around and, instead, decided to rant on forum and say FFXIV sucks (though this applies to all MMORPGs....)

 

Most players, like you (and me) have not put too much time in FFXIV because of the Character Wipe upon release-date as you mentionned. But at least, if there's something we don't understand about the game, we look it up, we don't claim apocalypse is on it's way for FFXIV :P
