First off let me start by saying this is not a troll thread and I do not want it to become one, so if you are here to troll and mock others please take it elsewhere. Now, I am a curious long long time gamer (been playing MMO's since the MUD days and gemstone/dragonrealms if people remember MUDs) and I have a couple of honest questions about FF14 and all I can find are vague references on the web or tons of pages trashing the game so I'm just curious on some things and none of them are game breakers or sellers for me but I'm curious.
1) Mounts; I have not always had mounts in games but have become very used to them over the years between FF7, WoW, and many others. Will there be chocobo's in this game? More then one color if so? I expect them to be difficult and time consuming to get so that isn't the issue, but is the option to get say a green chocobo there or not?
2) Housing: simple enough, is there housing in the game? plans for housing in the future? What is going on with that?
3) The UI: I understand that it is built with console in mind and I can come to terms with that. My question is, did they ever fix the mouse lag and the UI hiccups I've heard so much about? I cannot judge for myself since I am saving the experience for launch instead of beta, but is there hope that the UI has become less laggy and the mouse more responsive or will I have to live and die by macro's in this game?
4) Graphics: I have a brand new pc I bought for the old republic. I'm fairly certain I can run FF in the top end settings. Is FF14 dx11 supportive or planning on it? How high end can you make the graphics? I've seen beautiful pictures of it and look forward to seeing myself firsthand but wanted to know wsup.
5) Customization: I saw an online video discussing and showcasing the customization and itemization of armor and even of individual armor pieces. It was highly impressive. My question is, will that be available early on or something strictly meant for the end game pieces? I would hate to think I couldn't enjoy the way my charecter looks from the beginning on but I'm sure that you can.
6) Magic: I know all about the leveling up system and am not trying to open that can of worms here, I just wanted to know how many spells are usually available for black magic types. I understand it will be very limited out of the gate but do the conjuror and thaumatigist (excuse the spelling) have many options later on for spell paths, abilities, certain rare spells, etc? And which one plays more like an old school black mage in old FF's? I didn't play FF11 so enlighten me if someone could.
If I think of anymore questions I'll edit them in, a pre-emptive thank you to anyone who takes the time to read and answer the questions. Have a good day people

I will not answer any of your questions an stop anyone from attempting to do so.
People that will speak highly of FFXIV will say Beta is not launch and say nothing but positive things about it.
People that will talk down FFXIV will say beta will be what you get at launch and say nothing but negative about it.
FFXIV is a shot in the dark. Take your best guess and shoot.
You need to just try it out for yourself, so sign up for open beta

I do plan on trying it out on launch but I want to wait save my beta virginity for SWTOR I just was curious as to some aspects of the game and what to expect from them since i didn't play FF11 is all.
edit
ps- thank you for the answer's guys and madnessrealms thanks you were a big help.
I have to say, don't buy the game at launch if you don't know if you can run the game. You might have a big suprise otherwise.
There's a lot of factor affecting Performance in FFXIV, hell some lower-end PCs runs better than some high-end PCs because of the resolution, etc. Though I do have a good PC and running the game just fine, minus the lag when trading with NPCs or Crafting.
I was just curious of the details that you helped me answer bro. My computer will no doubt have zero problems running it, it was in the details of the game itself that I was most curious about and again man, I truly appreciate your help and honesty with it
If he/she has a new rig and has decent specs, I am sure it will run fine. I have most of my setting on low and I still find it pretty and quite enjoyable. In low I have no lag at all (Setting the buffer size to 3/4 in the Config made everything go nicely for me).
I for one am enjoying this more and more every time I log in and look forward to making this my 'home game' for the foreseeable future.
His is a good answer. As to your question about armor dying: dying recipes are currently in the game; however, I don't think anyone has used them yet.
