Ah yes, someone who enjoys a different type of gameplay saying anyone else who doesn't enjoy his gameplay is stupid and bad.
Nothing really new here.
I simply applaud your efforts in Darkfall to grind skill levels to be able to kill new players in seconds and take their gera that takes very little to get.
Man, folks are trying really hard to miss the OP's point.
No, WoW isn't forgotten.
Yes, WoW is currently hollow, shallow, or any other synonym that would fit.
WoW was once a beautiful, vibrant game with a decent enough community and a pretty decent amount of depth, with fulfilling gameplay. What's left now is little more than the molting, shell, or whatever leftovers are there once a thing has shed its skin. Take a cicada for example; the cicada moves on after molting its shell, and what's left is a dry, hollow thing that resembles what used to inhabit it, but isn't there anymore.
The part that's forgotten is what WoW once was. Perhaps a better way of putting it would be not that it's forgotten, but not even known by a very large portion of its current playerbase.
That's how I interpreted the OP, anyway. Common sense people. Use it!
This. One person gets it. It is a relief to see that not everyone is a lost cause.
I also like how every one who disagrees with me doesn't combat any of the points I made. Just stuff like "Oh well we have 11mil subs" and the like. Some of you even make claims against me about things I never said, or my motives behind what I am saying (even after I tried letting you in on things from my perspective). I would love to actually have a discussion about some of the problems I have with the game, but naw. Just feed my self entertainment.
Hey OP, how on Earth have you been able to play over 1400 hours of Darkfall? That is insane.
Because I think it is the best MMO I have ever played to date. Still waiting for the next one to come along and sweep me away though... its getting near that time where me and Darkfall need to see other people for a bit.

Fine. I'll feed your entertainment you arrogant dip****. Basically you're mad because WoW doesn't offer you hardcore PvP, or a truly open sandbox world. That's fine and dandy, you like what you like. You're being a completel moron to ignore the fact that the type of game WoW is, is extremely more attractive on the marketplace than your "hardcore PvP." I doubt most ordinary people who work and have a life want to come home and get /laughed at or have their gold stolen by some 13-year-old kiddie playing Darkfall, EVE, you name it. There are some who adore that kind of challenge, but most do not, clearly indiciated by subscription numbers in comparing WoW to say EVE, or Darkfall (I loved EVE btw so stfu before you say I'm a wimp or whatnot).
The fact that you had to come onto the WoW forums, with no other reason then to complain you don't like the game (YOU DON"T EVEN PLAY IT ANYMORE!) just proves to me that you really have nothing better to do with your time, which is quite sad really.
Come look me up in Darkfall where I'll kill you, take your stuff, and keep killing you untill you log out. Or in Dawntide, or the next sandbox PvP games that happens.
I agree with the OP in many ways, especially regarding the notion of a lack of community.
I was logging in every day to do my daily heroic with random groups, and I don't think I ever grouped with the same person twice. When beginning the dungeon, I might offer a friendly hello, which would be met with total silence, which would continue to the end. Battleground are the same way, just with more trash talking. Before battlegroups began, there was a definite sense of community - the whole server basically won or lost together, modified strategies together, recognized its heroes, etc. Now everything is just about Gear Score.
How can you call this agame anything but a hollow shell? There was once a vibrant community and even a sense unity with your faction-mates at times. Now you can level from 1-80 and get fully geared up to ICC without even interacting with another player.
Guildcity/castle/dungeon: Let the guilds design their own haven with fortifications, traps shops and whatever. PvP games where guilds can siege eachother. I would even go further and let players create their own kingdom with everything from their own coins to trading houses. AoCs guildcities are the right way to go even if they are very crude and can't be customized.
Tournaments: Let guild be able to hold tournaments with jousting, duels and so on. Great deal of fun.
Actual tavern activities: Gambling, drunken brawls and so on.
Hunting: In ye olde times, hunting boar, deer and similar things were popular. Make it a competition where the one killing the fleeing animal will be rewarded, hunting boar with spear is actually risky IRL and in Wow you could have really hugeones.
There are tons of other fun things you can add, raids and PvP is not the only thing you can get your players to do. The customizable guildcity takes some work but the other things are pretty easy to make.
A fun endgame is filled with a lot of different things to do. But EQ had a rather simple one and the rest including Wow just copied and pasted it right over with some added PvP. I don't say that raids and battlegrounds isn't fun, but I do say there should be a lot more options.

Sounds like a real winner of a game. And player.

Oooh, that is actually a good question.
Let us see...
