Aion is worth checking out!

CrazerageCrazerage Member Posts: 18

First off let me say this game isn't dying! Infact it's growing really fast my whole guild that has been together for 5 years all went to Aion 2months ago and play asmos on Israphel which seems to be the best all around server for both factions. Since we joined we've run into 4 other huge guilds that we've enjoyed gaming with in other mmo's for years and they all recently joined. Were all diggin this mmo. If you like pvp this is the game for you. Expect to be ganked early on as low levels but keep in my thats a part of the game. It's a pvp game and not one for wimps or sore losers. The pve game is awesome with tons of old and new instances and gotta check out the new solo instances. This game can easily be enjoyed by pve players too.  The grind is no longer there. It's more Wow like but still gives you the Elite mmo gamer feeling and not the 5 year that can max level in Wow in 1-2weeks feel. With the best graphics, flashy players moves and awesome gameplay  than any mmo on the market to date you really need to check this mmo out.

Glad you're enjoying it. Aion has some nice features, combat is probably my favorite with the move animations and combos, but other than that, and some beautiful graphics, albeit in an art style that frankly I don't enjoy, the game doesn't really have -that- much to offer.

    To each his own.

It never was dying. The sore loosers who wanted it to fail posted it was over forums to make them selfs feel better.

It is a very cool game, but you need the time to get the good gear, and mana slot it and enchant it to max if you want to be on top in pvp. If I was not becoming more a casual gamer I wud defo still be in Atreia.

It's good you found something you like but I feel your assessment of Aion is optimistic at best. I advise people to read gaming website and fellow player reviews before diving into this game... which is actually mediocre at best.

To each his own.   Sounds like you haven't checked out 2.0 expansion that was released 9/07/2010. Theres so much to offer now with 2.0 that I get lost in what I want to get into everynight after work. Theres just so many options now it not funny.

I would add that it is fairly PvE friendly for those who enjoy it that way. As mentioned you can get ganked in some of the lvl20+ zones by what are called rifters. Basically gates open up that allow a limted number of the opposite faction members to come though once in a while. There are also quests with great rewards to encourage people to come though though they are not required quests at all. But even the rifters are more rare now. The bulk of the pvp happens in the abyss. I kind of middle warground between the two halves of the world.

Also, regarding PvP, you don't loose any experience when you die in pvp, even being ganked. You only loose abyss points (bit like realm points in DAoC) and you gain far more abyss points for killing than you loose to dying. So it is really not so bad to just get out there and mix it up even if PvP is not so much your thing.

The game is strong on questing, the population is now stable in the west and faction balance is improving quickly. The leveling is slower than WoW but not bad at all. The only grinding left is really in terms of getting some of the best armor sets but you will find that with pretty much any game. You grind tokens or mats or cash or something. This game emphasizes chance a bit more than some will be used to. Crafting and such depends on getting lucky sometimes to get the special item procs if that is what you are going for. They have toned that down a bit though. The instance bosses are dropping good gear more often now.

It is a good game and worth trying.

    All die, so die well.

Well, it may not be dying, but Game here in the UK stopped stocking their gametime cards etc... and by the sound of it, its just in Europe/NA that the game isnt doing too well, which given the age of the game now, is perfectly understandable, its not a case of whether Aion is worth checking out, its more a case of.. been there.. done that.. moved on.. end of... doesnt mean the games going to die though, just that not as many are playing it these days.image

This game is by far the 2nd most played MMORPG with monthly subscription on the market and you say it isnt doing well?

Really, the only thing I can think is that people say this things to convince themselves that the game is bad and all and stuff...

Were seeing more players at the starting areas than ever before. , which given the age of the game now, is perfectly understandable, its not a case of whether Aion is worth checking out, its more a case of.. been there.. done that.. moved on.. end of... doesnt mean the games going to die though, just that not as many are playing it these days. image

Aion has turned into a fairly strong PvE game.  The expansion has certainly strengthened that but the PvP is still lacking.  As for the game itself in NA its far from dying and over the past few weeks seems to have picked up(likely due to the xpac).

Cool,  guess since some store doesnt stock game cards for perhaps the biggest MMO company worldwide means less people are playing it these days.  I play AION and can say the game is doing quite well, very active and no shortage of players.  You dont play AION, but somehow, someway you feel qualified to make some blind, blanket statement on what is going on with the games population, because some video game store doesnt stock NCSoft time cards.  Nice try kid.

I love kids like you who use the "been there, done that" line and dont have the balls to say what "been there, done that" MMO they are currently playing.

I've been on the fence about Aion ever since it came out and havn't tried it yet. With the release of 2.0 it sounds like it is much improved, not that I know what has actually improved. I might just give it a try sometime soon.. hell, I've tried everything else, why not eh?

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

pvp in this game is really shit to be honest... The crafting is ok.. I will admit that this game is the only new school mmo that can compete with the smoothness of WoW.

But the abyss was 100% fail, it's all about strength in numbers. Nobody will fight 1v1, and EVERYONE just runs away instead of fighting. Flight pvp was good on paper but it is just terrible unless you are a caster. Castle sieges are still zzz, i'll never understand why they didn't just copy and paste the lineage 2 castle sieges.

IMO they should of just made this game FFA pvp with stricter death penalties.

Aion is far from dieing on Vaizel, was pretty packed tonight. Lately I have seen no bots, and seen no gold spam, and leveling as well as K rewards is improved, and the economy is good enough I've made millions selling looted lowby stuff. I would say if you are a casual player(few hours a night) you could easily max level in less than 2 months. If that's a grind to anyone they need to rethink playing MMOs.

Not really, if you are good enough you can at least get out alive, grab some friends go back and take down the gorup that just ganked you. I mean, PvE is strength in numbers, what's your point?

So if you're out numbered why  would you stay and die? If you want one on PvP /duel. It sucks when you are on a quests and get ganked by a higher level, or they bring friends back after you get them, but it's part of the game I guess.
