The population as I have measured before and after the F2P is actually down:

Before I would see 1-2 million on weekends and several hundred thousand on weeknights but the highest I've seen so far is about 400K last weekend. Sits around 150-300K on most weeknights.

You have no clue what you are talking about. There is no way you could have seen 1-2 million players before on the handful of servers we had before, they opened 4 new servers and all are at their limit and have seen huge population spikes. Pretending that there was a time when 10x as many people where playing the games as now, on 40% less servers shows your either a) a troll or B) confusing this game with another.

    Even xfire says:

    no change for 3 days

    Highest: #10 on 2010-09-14

Which means there where never, ever, more people playing lotro than now for aslong as xfire tracks the game(since 2007 beta).

As far as I can tell the Pop's just fine and the lag issues seem to be working themselves out...

I've been a BIG supporter of the F2P move and I still am, but what I think you're going to see in time is either the prices are going to have to come down in the Store for items that are desired by VIP or Lifetime Players, or there is going to be a backlash...I'm a VIP subscriber...I get 500 points a Month...That's one +10 tome a Month!!! Goody for me...lol...

As it is right now there's plenty of things I would consider buying out of the Store, but I'm not going to pay and extra $45 bucks to get + 140 total on one characters stats...That's WAY too pricey for my blood...I think they're going to have to bring down the Store pricing or deal with some VERY unhappy campers...image

Your not supposed to buy all the tomes, your supposed to go into instances and get them via drops. Its like the traits from deeds, you can either grind them or buy them directly. But you need to buy the content to be able to grind them, deeds for traits and instances for tomes.

The option to buy them only ever gets interesting if a certain tome you need refuses to drop and you do not find anyone willing to trade it for another. For example the +10 tomes drop regularly in the great barrows(level 20 version) if you have even a single level 65 toon there is only one reason to buy these from the shop instead of soloing the GB a couple times, and its the same reason a VIP would buy traits from the store.

But yeah, some prices are over the top. But Turbine already said they are going to adjust prices, they are understandably a bit cautious. Its better to start with high prices and look gracious lowering them, then to start with low prices and be an ass raising them.

I suspect the first thing to come down will be posting at auctions.  That seems to be the number 1 complaint from folks here and people I've talked to ingame.

For the stuff I want, I'm just gonna wait til' they put it on sale.  I'll probably never buy anything at full price.

he can't seem to understand that the last que number that his link shoews is simply the number of people that have logged on since the last server reset, not the current population on the server. It is possible for the number to hit a million or more if the servers do not get restarted for a few weeks, but in reality a couple of thousand might activly be playing on each server.

    I miss DAoC

Im a VIP so its not going to affect me, but personally i think that limited swift travel and direct trade with other players are the biggest issues(seriously who is going to pay for a 1h enable of swift travel routes?). AH is also a pretty bad i agree.

Still 2 out of 3 issues directly combat goldsellers, which traditionally run rampant in any game with a free account option, so im unsure if Turbine is ever do away with them completely. The swift travel thingy though is just mean.

What I believe many missed is Sapience on the official boards stated they were creating artificial caps on servers, thus artificial ques as well, in their attempt to "kill the lag". This is why there are high ques where you wouldn't think there'd be, thus making people assume there are "more" preople than usual trying to login.

That was only on the weekend and due to the faulty switch, servers should be running at their normal capacity now. 10 AM is primetime in europe btw, so im not surprised to see queues then. On the original launch at 10th many european where not aware yet how much ofa delay CM would heap on EU players, and then it took time to get the US client etc. So it makes sense that your only seeing the EU players coming in mass now.

Unfortanly I had to cancal my sescription they failed to upgrade my account even though they were still taking monney for my sescription . The deleted my VIP status and i lost 90% of my content even though they had taken a sescription fee out for 3 months. When i treied to contact them by email 3 times i had no responce at all even when i used the correct channels. Tried Phoning them but being i am in australia i only ever got put on hold for 1 hour.  I love lotr but as i cannot play my charictors and i refuse to put more monney on my credit card even though they have taken almost 3 months of sescript fee's from my account i had to pull out.

Very Disapointed about this it seems F2P killed my faverate game.

    Current games;
    Star treck online
    Rift
    Eve online
    Firefall

I see what you're saying...But if that's the case I would rather they just make them drops and nothing else...Putting them in the store at those prices is just a dumb tease for Vet Players...Those prices are ridiculous...At the very least they should offer a percentage discount for VIP's and Lifers who have a whole hell of a lot more to do than farm and instance for the Tomes...But whatever...No big deal...

Honestly I don't really have a problem with anything else I've seen. If they just adjust some of store prices, especially to those who are subbing the game, I think it will be just fine...I still love the game regardless...It's an awesome MMO...image
