The UI is horrendous

I downloaded the beta and then tried playing the game. After five minutes of trying to figure out how to set 1920x1200 fullscreen and how get out of the first instance I closed down the game.
Sure I could look on the net how you interact with objects etc but really, such things should be intuitive and I should not need to check on internet how to perform basic settings and tasks.
This game, its UI anyway, is a big FAIL.

Get ready for some responses on how you didn't take enough time and how that makes you a total noob and perhaps even how you should go back to WoW.
UI is not VERY intuitive - I could understand it all, but having to push 10 keystrokes to navigate simple menu's was pretty lame in all honesty

were the past 50,000 threads over the UI not enough, did we really need another? We get the point the keyboard/mouse UI is less than desirable, You got 3 options; play with a gamepad, learn how to adapt and play with K/M, or move on. Choice is yours FFXIV will do just fine with you or without you.

The UI is like driving a hot butterknife into the back of your brain through your eyesocket. It's certainly possible to do but it would be suicide and not be very pleasant.
That is another FF14 blunder that I'm not sure why someone who really gave a crap about their PC audience would do...................... wait. -_-

Just to "research" before I replied, I went 4 pages into this forum and didn't see a topic with a title conveying the same point as the OP is trying to make. Just because it's an oft-repeated issue doesn't mean there are "50,000 threads" on the subject, and not everyone watches the FFXIV boards constantly (I'm not even saying you do) so someone just getting around here might not know what all gets discussed. To respond in kind; cowering in a corner, covering your ears tightly with your palms, and saying "go away go away!" won't help, and isn't constructive. If someone wants to discuss the game's flaws, that's their right. It's your right to ignore them and enjoy yourself, or at least offer a rebuttle/attempt to change the OP's mind.
As for the subject... the UI is pretty atrocious. I adjusted to and eventually enjoyed FFXI's UI, but I'm in awe of how they actually managed to make this one worse.

Yes like i said its less than desirable, especially for the typical mmo'er, and you have your 3 choices that I already listed. Pick one.

WoW? Haven't played that in years. However I will go back to Dragon Age Origins because it has superior gfx, UI, storyline (I assume), character development and awesome combat.
It is not an MMORPG yes but things like UI and gfx performance should not be genre dependant. This game is just a bust... it may have some strong points but if the UI is so bad and the gfx performance so crappy that who would bother to experience those?

Cool, but I dont see them changing the UI for PC at all. I may be wrong. So Good luck to you in finding a game you can enjoy.

It's "hardcore"
Get back to us after you've tried the game out for 5 hours instead of 5 minutes, you slacker. This isn't one of those panzy games that are designed for ages 6 and up, you might actually have to use a macro at some point.
Graphical setting adjustments are done in the windows program menu, look for the program marked Final Fantasy XIV Beta Config on our start menu. Recommended settings are here: http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/media/recom/na/pc.html.
If you still can't figure it out, bad news: you failed the Final Fantasy XIV entrance exam. Better cancel that pre-order while there's still time.
Me, I'm plenty used to the GUI, but I'm not afraid to point out that there are places where it drags painfully, some kind of GUI lag, such as when placing items in my crafting interface or scrolling down the list to sell something. Crossing my fingers they fix that soon.

So I guess your just going to troll for the sake of trolling? Good luck in your crusade, FFXIV will be just fine regaurdless of your insignificant trolling on a site that represents less than 5% of the MMO community as a whole. So carry on.

If it's going to be fine then why do you worry so much about all the bad UI threads that rise up? This problem deserves much more than a simple thread.

when did i say any of that, Im just telling you how it is. Adjust to the k/m, play with a gamepad, or move on. I guess you could write SE a letter, or send them an email, but debating it on this site will get us no where. It has been brought to SE's attention before and its obvious that they gave us all the good ole middle finger. You think I like the PC UI? No I dont. But I have the same options as you, and I have picked, I chose to play with a gamepad. Obviously you have chosen to waste time "discussing" a topic on a worthless forum that will net nothing but dung flinging. so congrats, remind me again who needs to use their brain?

A: You're the one that took a dump in their hand and slung it in the first place.
B: There's been no debate. You even now agree and state your position in a much better (albeit still offensive) way. If folks want to discuss the issue, or bring it to the attention of others that are unaware, then let them. If that bothers you so much, don't click on the topic only to get yourself riled up.
C: Sure a minority of the gaming community at large visits this forum/website. That said, there's nearly 1250 people online (guests + members) at a very off-peak time for NA - likely its largest audience. Word of mouth, and passers-through hunting info on this or that count up to a far larger number than you're giving credit to, and given the popularity and size of this site, especially compared to others like it, you'd probably be surprised how far it reaches.
If you want to discuss something, hop on in! Resorting to the tactic outlined in A really doesn't accomplish anything. It just makes you look like a simian.

I didnt sling anything I just stated the only viable options. I dont think i called anyone names on my first post. I didnt degrade anyone, granted it was in a cold hearted tone. But in all actuality where was I wong? Your eaither going to play or your not, everyone who logs on knows the UI is less than perfect.
as for your B: Just go look at the OB reviews here the UI is always knocked and its deserved, you act like its not being talked about, it comes up in most every thread.
