Blizzard forum lead, Bashiok, has a new and very comprehensive post on the official forums detailing the changes coming to the World of Warcraft currency system beginning with the 4.0 patch. In PvE, Emblems of Triumph and Emblems of Frost will be converted into Justice Points. In PvP, Arena Points, Honor Points, any leftover Battleground Marks of Honor, Stone Keeper's Shards, Venture Coins, and Spirit Shards will be converted into the new Honor Points.
While we previously announced that there's a limit to the amount of these new currencies you can stockpile, we're providing a grace period in the form of a soft cap. This soft cap will allow the initial conversion to push the amount owned over the cap, but will not allow any further points to be earned (or returned through item refunds) until enough points are spent to put you below the hard cap.
For instance, a player has 3000 Emblems of Triumph, and 1200 Emblems of Frost; at the time of conversion they'll be given 4200 Justice Points. The hard cap for Justice Points is 4000, so that player won't be able to earn any more Justice Points until he or she spends enough points to reduce the total to under 4000. This also applies to the new PvP Honor Points, which also have a cap of 4000.
Shortly before Cataclysm is released, another patch will enforce the hard cap, marking the second stage of the currency conversion. Any Justice or Honor Points above the hard cap will be converted to gold, and just like in the first stage of the conversion, the player will receive an in-game letter explaining that some of their currencies were converted into gold as well as delivering the gold itself.

oh. Well ok, i guess.
So I will be able to effectivly farm Frost gear until the expansion comes out.... Well at least it gives me something to do.
I like this idea a lot, simplifying is awesome!
With every new change they make chances I will ever re-subscribe to WoW just go lower and lower.
You guys are really complaining about this change? Really? I can think of some valid complaints about their design changes or direction in the game in general but this is certainly not one of them. You all really enjoyed mutliple levels of currency? And most of that currency was outdated and useless. Of all things to complain about...
Players will play, whiners will whine.

Yes raiders have been whining from the first day that people could get Epics without raiding.
I can understand why, They spend their whole lives raiding to get some epic item, then one day anyone can get one without dedicating their whole lives to a game.
However as someone who has a full time job, I really do not feel for the raiders. I welcome them to go find another game while WoW continues to give me reasons to keep paying them every month.
I agree, their current system is annoyingly stupid and I cannot wait until they "simplify" it.
I am happy they went with my second suggestion of justice points , the first was carebear points, and the 3rd was love Heart points.

So people will be able to get past the gearscore brick wall now? All good in my books.
To be honest this is the sort of thing people have called for in every MMO I've ever played. This way everyone will have a chance to obtain all the gear they want; the only differences will be the speed at which you acquire it based on the way you earn the points.
I'm no fan of dumbing things down but I don't really see how this can be a bad thing. It means everything you do will contribute towards your progression in some way rather than having to repeat the same bit of content over and over to get the specific currency you need... The only people that won't like this will be the ones that don't want anyone else to have the same gear as them.
Well.. I have a full time job as well but it's getting to a point where the casual player wants everything handed to them . It's a MMO not a single player game so I welcome the casual player to go find a single player game if they can't deal with putting time into a game. Anyways... As far as the currency change it's not a big deal to me.
The current beta build conversion rate is 1:1
the current gear conversion rate is 10:1
If you have 60 frost badges, you get 60 justice points.
a trinket costs 600, some armor pieces cost 1200
Bosses are worth 1 justice point.

Great premise, idiotic implementation. I'm happy they are going to one currency, but farming 120 heroic dungeons and killing every single boss in each for 1 piece of gear is so far past stupid, I seriously don't think there is a word for it. I will call it Blizztarded. Right now, if you have enough frsot emblems to get a FULL SET OF T10 - You get 1 piece of gear instead in 4.0
Think about that a minute.
So if that's true then they made the game even more grindtastic? Great....
Basicly this means you can allways buy top gear by doing heroics and low level raids.
lol You took the words right out of my mouth .Still my 6 year old nephew has started playing this now so anything that makes it easier for him to understand I guess will be good for him . Hes doing pretty well really for his age . Still if youngsters are playing wow as a first mmo they will graduate to more complex ones sooner or later so its all good for mmos in general .
Cleaning up all of the old tokens is to be expected. But the existence of a cap for the new points(both types) indicates Blizzards perspective on at least one aspect of the change.
I wanna know what the more complex ones are because I've yet to see them.
You could try DDO... as one example since AoC is an adult game you will have to wait a few years to try that one. WoW fanboi's have your fun this game is not worth losing sleep over period.

The following items are immediately converted to gold:
Emblem of Heroism = 5.5 gold each
Emblem of Valor = 5.5 gold each
Emblem of Conquest = 5.5 gold each
Badge of Justice = 1.833 gold each
Your New Honor Points total will be the sum of the following amounts:
Old Honor * 0.024
Old Arena Points * 0.85
Battleground Mark of Honor * 2.976
Wintergrasp Mark of Honor * 19.08
Stone Keeper Shard * 1.6
Venture Coin * 3
Spirit Shard * 1
Your Justice Points total will be equal to (Emblems of Triumph + Emblems of Frost ) * 2.75
Again, the softcap for both Honor and Justice conversions is 4000 points. This means that if a character converts to above 4,000 points, it will not be possible for them to earn more until they fall below the 4,000 cap.
A hardcap will be implemented in a following patch before Cataclysm's release. At that time, any excess points above 4,000 will be converted as follows:
Honor points above 4,000 are converted to gold at a rate of 35 silver per point of Honor.
Justice points above 4,000 are converted to gold at a rate of 2 gold per point of Justice.
ROFL, All I hear is: "we don't want you to raid"
Crazy you say? Arthas-Alliance went from winning 50% of all WGs to winning 3 times A WEEK after making the WG-dailies into weeklies. In short, putiing a cap on anything reduces the desire to contnue doing said activity again.......
Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising everytime we fall.
...and since when was WoW ever 'complicated'? This game is supposed to be easy and simple to understand. They're taking all the obsolete and miscellaneous currencies, and centralizing them into two categories. That being Justice Points and Honor Points.
I don't see why people complain about this. You are playing toddler's MMO in the first place. It's fun to play, sure, but I'm not looking for spreadsheats and tedious grinds to kill some time.
Age of Conan DDO , LOTRO, Vanguard , EVE, fallen earth , too many to list really . Actually up untill about 2 years ago I would have said WoW itself offered some degree of challenge but not anymore too many changes like this aimed at ease of play made it unplayable for many mature players . Still my nephews enjoying it as are millions of other children. .
The fastest way to shut up those who claim WoW is such an easy kiddie game is to simply ask them how long it took them to kill heroic Lich King.
You guys did kill him, right? I mean, seeing as a six year old can play this game now, I wouldn't expect anything less of you all than to completely faceroll him on the first attempt. A wipe doesn't really speak well of your skill level.
Please, more dumbing down :-D Less reason to play different BGs! No fun BG-specific rewards! No fun at all! Eliminate fun! Yay for homogenisation!
*sighs*
