It's just.... terrible. Nexon in my eyes have done no wrongs, just followed by blind apes.
There were a few problems (I say problems but a few were preventive or unavoidable measures taken either way).
1. They allowed pretty much anyone to get in. Sure it had to have Beta keys, but on activation of the Beta key you get two more. Thus starting an infinite chain which IMO, defeats the purpose of keys to begin with.
2. They don't put a firm start date in mind. They just say 'On the 15th'. A good plan if you ask me. Gives you a whole day to work out the kinks and release the server at your later determined time. However this just built up a mass of hungry players. Who just grew more and more frustrated every passing second after midnight on the 15th.
3. The players start to become annoyed and blame Nexon for not releasing a set time. And the many timezone differences doesn't help.
4. The mass of annoyed players start to spam the forums. I mean spam. 10 - 25 new threads every 5 seconds.
5. Nexon releases a two hour time window that's late for EST. More hate spam etc
6. Nexon says that they are a couple hours off from release in the middle of the time window they gave. A LOT more hate spam on top of the normal spam.
7. Nexon launches the server, and like the loaded gun that it was, all the players try to download/patch at once. East server crashes in mere minutes and West server is barely kept by alive. The delays on West are astounding and East is gone completely. Now unlike a bullet, the players who got crashed turn to rage spam. Not hate spam. Rage spam. The forums are currently getting at least 30 threads a second, ost if not all of it hate spam.

I just can't believe how bad this community is. Nexon is doing fine as far as Beta goes game wise, but the community has basicly turned to rioting.

And again, every forum (or almost every forum) in the western market is the same. The moment there is a slight issue, some vocal minorities makes a big deal out of it, crying and raging everywhere. Really nothing to be suprised off. It just seems worse here because the F2P market *does* appeal to a slightly younger audience, even though there are plenty of adults, but even adults will rage on some forums.
I'd say they are getting exactly what the want. Load data.
FYI i just played for 2 hours. Probably wont log back in. I'd imagine many people will do the same. So by putting the servers up when the load is likely to be highest, they made a smart move.
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
Yeah. Makes me kind of sad though. To see the kind of pathetic state of being this generation is in.
I'ld expect a majority of the people who are causing the mass login issue will quit after a very short (less than 4 hrs) play time. That is all they need to do the next 2 weeks of 'informed' game reviews on the forums. After they get thier 'data' everyone who has a sincere desire to try the game, help in the beta, or play the game will have a lot less issues. Me, I got my key days ago, downloaded the game, installed it, and am waiting for tomorrow to even try to log in. I'm also prepared for the flood of MMORPG.COM reviews to start hitting within the next 6 hours. No doubt plenty of people who honestly believe thier opinions are invaluable to the WORLD will be posting thier game review shortly. (makes a fresh bowl of popcorn and gets ready for the show)

Bah the reviews should be good overall. I was in the CBT, the game played really well, never experienced any bug (except I crashed once.....in 14 days) so....if people really complain about Vindictus, it's likely because the game doesn't appeal to them, or they didn't fully understand the mechanics (I expect several posts about the Token System, AP system, Grouping System, etc)
Meh, I've been around MMORPG for a few years (old account I deleted as I tried to quit MMOs cold turkey) and really havent seen much hype and furor around f2ps.
I could definitely see playing this game for 30 minute stints, but it wont consume my soul like a true MMO.(psst <mini review)

It shouldn't anyway. Once you get past the Beginner Area (forgot the name), every missions (other than the Beginner Area ones) requires Token. You only receive 50 Tokens per week (Dungeon cost 2 tokens per, increase to 3 and 4 if you run too many dungeons in a single day) but there are ways to gain more tokens, but there's a cap. (Reviving your teammates rewards you with Dedication Seals which you can later trade a stack for some Tokens). Cash Shop offers Tokens too, but based on my experienced, and the fact that Nexon has adjusted XP Curve, I don't see them becoming a necessity, unless you play Vindictus 8 hours a day.
I had no problems with the launch. This is what I did.
During the first 45 minutes of the start window I tried logging in about every 5 minutes. After 45 minutes I stopped, went outside and changed the starter on my car. Came back and saw a forum post that the patcher was up. I started the patcher then went out, took the starter core back to the auto store and got my $30.00 core charge back. I then went to the grocery store, bought some groceries and came home. The patcher was done and the game was ready to play.
I played for about two hours with no issues. Probably one of the most painless game starts I've experienced. But I'll be sore tomorrow from holding a 20 pound starter at a weird angle for several minutes while I tried to get a bolt started.

Yeah, pretty much mirrors my own experience today, except that instead of a car starter, I did homework. Looks like there'll be a slight learning curve for myself, but I'm looking forward to seeing what this game has to offer, and seeing if I can find anything to report.
Personally, I think the way the game is marketed means it's more likely to attract a certain mentality - and the flood of vitriol from the delayed startup is a foregone conclusion from there. Score one for the John Gabriel's GIFT.

That the means of progression would not be mutually exclusive from the means of enjoyment.
