It is plenty open for those in the US and CA.

I really dont understnad what is so hard to understand here, it IS Nexon US after all, all their other games pretty much have ip blocks on them as well. and this being a Peer to Peer game. Ileagally connecting from outside North America in most cases will cause you to lag pretty badly due to distance from servers.

Really not trying to be a jerk here, but it was stated time and time again on nexons web sites, as well as even when you sign up to make an account it tells you that these games are for North American residence only.

on a side note the nerd rage on their forums is up to epic proportions!

    Q: I live in X, can I play Vindictus?

If you live outside of North America, you CANNOT play this release of Vindictus.

Please direct your attention to this sticky: http://forum.nexon.net/Vindictus/forums/thread/5709633.aspx

    Greetings players,

Please be aware that Vindictus is currently available in US and Canada ONLY. We have no information regarding expansion plans into other territories such as Oceania at this time. However, if we do have additional information, we will be sure to provide it here.

    Thanks,

    Neural

Ive tried it on a number of games, like Mabinogi (Before they had a EU version) and the recent Soul Master. Both worked. I imagine it will also work on Vindictus.

I am going to take a guess and say North America only , and take a look at the nexon eu site there are plans for vindictus EU and also a facebook eu site as well =)

please do keep in mind this is a Peer to Peer type game, so the distance to the servers make a huge difference.

hotspot shield and yourfreedom.net dont work for vindictus, same goes with government IPs and some well known US proxies are banned too.

u just need find ANY working NA proxy, u will need it just for like 10 second and use it at proxifier when u press login ingame :P also be sure u start game from folder and not via nexon site... 100% working :) u can check some of mine Vindictus screenshot in mine gallery later :)

No problem here, played a solid 2 hours straight (11h30 AM to 1h30 PM EST)  no lag, no disconnect.  I just left cause they shut down the server for a patch.

yea same just logged of because server patch =.= else i would stay online forever, plus had problem with west server it was down and then up and then again down so i made characters on East server and was ingame for around 2 hours, made lot of dungeon runs... everything is ok no lag at all:) hehe funny is when i was host of party we never had any lag i kept my eye on that ping signal icon was full all time... but when some american guy hosted some game it was slide-show for all lol =.= i dont think its just about where are you from but its about how big and stable upload u have, true that full american party would have a little lower ping (i dont think it would be too much, because when i hosted ping to all was around 90ms:P).. but if that host have sux upload and for example using WIFI... there will be huge packet loss even if whole party is from same City lol! so arguing about how EUROPE guys will f*u*c*k game is laughable... this game is about steady upload :P

    It was?

It wasn't mentioned on any of the beta key giveaway sites I saw, including the one I got my key from.

It wasn't mentioned on the page they linked to - http://vindictus.nexon.net/Key/AccessInfo.aspx

The Nexon passport signup actually explicitly says "To register for a Nexon Passport, you must live in the United States, Canada, and Oceania. Access to Nexon America games is not supported outside these regions." - I live in Oceania, by the way.

It wasn't until I went digging into the forums to find why I couldn't connect that I found that sticky saying "US and Canada ONLY. We have no information regarding expansion plans into other territories such as Oceania at this time".

I don't have a problem with that - it's par for the course when dealing with licensed titles (one of the reasons I generally don't find them worth the hassle). But I honestly don't think they made it obvious, I really don't feel like I was being unobservant to not notice this until I'd downloaded the beta and tried to run it.

  • AmbreAmbre Member UncommonPosts: 104

Same feeling Banquetto. I don't like IP blocking of course, but I can understand they may not have a choice sometime. But in this case, IP blocking without any official warning neither on their main site nor in the MMORPG.com or massively giveaways... letting you get a beta key, downloading and installing the program, launching it... just to get "disconnected from the server" without any further explanation is a bit too much.

I suspect they purposelly made it that way for some reason : anouncing an IP blocking on the first beta keys giveaways would sound like bad advertisement to them, or maybe to get as many people as possible interested in the game early before a future euro release. Whatever the reason is, I feel some dishonesty behind it.

    Check my blog on mmorpg.com.

  • BanquettoBanquetto Member UncommonPosts: 1,037

Meh, I don't think it was dishonest, just a bit klutzy. If you look at their forums now, it's clear that an enormous number of people outside the US/Canada got beta keys and jumped in expecting them to work. They probably wish they'd put a giant banner up saying "USA AND CANADA ONLY!" to save themselves the hassle.

Also they probably should have IP-checked when you were downloading the installer - would have saved some bandwidth if I'd gotten a "sorry mate, wrong country" error message then and there. :)
