You are NOT supposed to have all the benefits as those who sub unless you pay a significant amount of money, simple as that. If you want swift travel then keep paying for it or sub. Subscription is the smart choice and as people have said on MMORPG a million times, it is about the same cost as going to the movies ONCE in an entire month.

A spot on assessment. I couldn't have put it better myself!

Personally, I think PayG, is a better description of the payment model than F2P. It amazes me how many people still seem disappointed that the whole game is either "not free", or that "there's restrictions".

Also, if you do find yourself enjoying the game, and are playing it on a regular basis, then subscribing should be a no-brainer.

The same discussion could be here about EverQuest II Extended as well (which I am currently playing). SOE uses somewhat the same model as Turbine does, with a couple of small exceptions.

Personally I think this new PayG is a great idea. Mostly on lower levels you don't need the benefits of the full subscription, weather you're playing a full subscription based game or these new PayG model. At a certain point you need to decide how you want (need) to go on in the future. You can take a subscription or use the itemshop to fulfill your needs.

PayG also gives the player a pretty good trial (as said before). If the player really likes the game, (s)he can "buy" the full game through subscription (not true for EQ2X, where subscription still won't give all races >:( but does unlock the rest of the game).

About LorTo... Would I pay subscription if I play it as PayG? NO. Not because I don't like the game, but because I've alreayd played for 2 years and am kinda tired of Middle-Earth. If I play LotRo again, I think I'll stick to PayG...

The same question for EQ2X... Not sure yet. The game is nice & appealing, but so far I'm not really in need of subscription (I did update to "silver" status for € 8 to make bank mules easier)

As a lVIP I have noticed no changes at all and have no idea what you are referring to ? Explain in detail please what changes you are implying they made to to VIP's.

Not sure I follow what you do not follow.  Perhaps it is the nature of what a sub had before compared to what they have now.  That is more of a SUB v. APM thing.  It is not a case of stating that the player has lost something that they have to buy again.  It is a case that depending on their playstyle, the sub is going to spend more now than before to keep pace.  Pacing, I suppose would be what was lost...

In what way would pacing be lost? So far at least if you wantr to pay the sub, nothing has really changed with the F2P patch except some new features such as the wardrobe and the new area, and the updated skirmash system etc.

    I miss DAoC
