Was there ever any doubt? After Germany? This is the real deal; this game in "Alpha".
No, it proves 2 things.
A: GW2 is already in good shape, or at least parts of it is.
B: Arenanet makes great demos.
For the hype to be right it would mean most of the people interested in the game will play it for at least a year after launch. That might happen or not but don't make conclusions that shouldn't be made until a while after the game is out.
I personally think it will be a great game but I also think that some of the hyped people wont like it anyways. But that is also just a guess.

Not shocked at all. And I think the hype is only heightened when people watch/play FFXIV and see how slow and boring a game cane be, and then watch/play GW2 and get blown away by the incredible action going on. I beta tested the crap out of FFXIV, and I am not sure I have ever been so bored so fast. I had more fun *WATCHING* GW2 videos than I did playing that monstrosity, lol.
This has beaten SW:TOr twice now. BioWare needs to step up, they better not mess up one of my game.

just because a game is beaten in "best of show" does not make that game worse of the two. they can both be great, just one shows better then the other. and really one had to win and one had to lose. if SW:TOR won would you say ANET needs to step up? i mean sure one game could be total awesomeness, doesnt mean the other game is total shit due to that game being awesome.... although in comparison it may seem like it but it may not be %100 true.
now theres good reasons GW2 is better at show then most the games. we know more about it, they put on a great show unlike many games. BUT that does not mean any of the games are worse, infact some games may be better... but they sucked at showing off at PAX... one game sucking so bad at this to just have a single tv playing a trailer over and over.
GW2 just gave a good show, and it showed off the game (imho) better then any other game. they showed us what we will get, all of it ingame footage and nothing to show off what would not be in the final version. (a trailer that shows us super fast pased action but then you play aaaaand... it is turned based.)
TL:DR.... guildwars being shown well =/= other games being bad

Why can the hype only be right if the game is played by the people interested 'one year' after? IMO for the GW2 hype to be correct would mean that it will hold the #1 slot for any mmo in "time", based on the actual hype level on this website, and including many reviewers all claiming GW2 to be better than new WoW exp. So basically... 12 mill box sales? xD. Before I get flamed for that, i quoted time, because obviously there's no way anyone could give a 'correct' number, because everyone is different and has their own oppinions.
