This is what I have, and i'm lagging fairly bad on the beta version, does anyone think the actual version might run smoother?

I5 2.4ghz processor,

4gb DDR3 RAM

Geforce GTS 360M

7200RPM Harddrive

I scored 1,300 on the Test Application, and it said recommended settings, low... doesn't even seem to make a difference... with everything low it only uses 50% of my ram, and 40% of my processor.. ANy ideas anyone?

Your i5 is clocked quite low, you could do with pushing it up a little to say 3ghz, the game is vewry CPU intensive. I am not too sure if the game supports muliple cores, but I am guessing that yours is a 2 core i5, which may contribute.

With the graphics card you have I would stick to around 720p resolutions if you can. Your mobile graphics does not realy cut it on latest games.

Ram doesn't mean a huge ammount in regards to performance, it would mainly effect load times and such, your 4gb is fine.

What OS are you running, hopefully not Vista as most compalints I have read are coming from Vista related systems. Win7 64 would be your best bet.

Running Windows 7 64 bit... My CPU is a quad core yeah I know the graphics processor is probaly my biggest bog down =/

Running it at 1280x720 as well... just seems WAYYY too laggy than it should be..

That's cuz it IS way too laggy than it should be, due to all the the debug code they stuck in it. Once it launches, it wont have any of the debug code, so it will be smoother.

You didn't mention it so make sure you have gone to the NVIDIA site and installed the latest drivers for your card.  SE is working closely with NVIDIA and ATI so new drivers may have been released since you last updated (and may be released again b4 launch).

Also you might try going into the external FFXIV Config program and try tweaking your video and graphic settings to see if that makes a difference if you haven't already.  Things like turning off AA, changing your buffer size, and turning off Ambient Occlusion might make a difference if you are experiencing low FPS.

I was out of town so I didn't get to jump in the open beta *sob*

But I am concerned. I am scoring low on the official benchmark (1889)

    My system:

    Windows 7 64 bit

    i5 760 2.8 GHz (stock)

    4GB DD3 RAM (Corsair)

    500GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (x2)

EVGA GeForce GTS 250 1GB 16X PCI Express

I just got thi damn computer built...it's not a 2grand computer but it is a 900 dollar setup. And yet the "Can I Run It?" site says I don't make reccomended and the benchmark tells me I will have to play it at the lowest settings (at least if I want to play it in my native 1920x1080 resolution)...am I worrying for nothing or do I seriously have to buy the top end i7 if I hope to enjoy the aesthetics of this game?

My Benchmark was 3250 in 1280x720 and 1857 in 1920x1080 screen resolution.

    System is:

    AMD x4 940

    ATI hd4850 1gb

    4 x 2gb ram

    x-fi titanium

    OS Win7 x 64

In the beta i can play in 1920x1200 with highest texture settings, no AA, no Ambient occlusion and no depth of field, all ingame options enabled.

Wilderness is around 60 FPS and City is around 30 to 30 FPS with sometimes lower (25 to 15) when loading data.

With that settings the game feels very smooth even in the city as the fps are constant.

For me Anti Aliasing and Ambient Occlusion slows down the FPS by 3 and 4 times which isnt a good experience.

It seems you are on a laptop, so I'll state what you already know, plug it in and turn off the power save options. After that if the game is still slow.

Try the hardware mouse hack, the software mouse makes the game feel laggier

Lag is very broad term nowadays, are you getting low fps, you getting network spikes, or does it feel slow and clunky?

    ---

    Recommended specs  (note the resolution)

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

    This is pure bullshit.

Use the benchmark (which has no "debug code") and see where you sit. If you are low, either upgrade or expect to be disappointed.

I did use the benchmark, and if I don't look at the stats, I can't even tell that it's lagging. As far as I'm concerned, I'm fine, and my system is at lest a couple years old. HD4780 OC and Core2Duo Quad 2.9 gig, with 4 gig dual-channel ram, I'm fine.

I don't know why everyone else is crying.

The OPs system is a Laptop, comparing Desktops to it won't realy say much. It will have a crippled 360Mobile version in it.

Are you sure its Quad, I always thought the 2.4 was dual only. Check your windows task manager in CPU usage, if it shows 4 it is a dual core (2 cores 2 threads) if it shows 8, it Quad core.

Might as well make sure everyone is aware of what the hardware requirements are for FFXIV since this is pretty much a hardware discussion.

    Recommended Specs:  http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/media/recom/na/pc.html

I have a laptop and it has the same issues, but really the game is going to be laggy and unresponsive, cumbersome and ultimately boring no matter what setup you have, so don't feel too bad.

Yeah, it's ballanced around the resolution of 1280 x 720. I'm sure most people are going to play it at 1920x1080 though.

Not looked to much into the mobile graphics, just know they are lower then the desktop counterparts. But looking at the link, the difference between the DDR5 360M and the DDR3 is massive, if you have the DDR3, ouch!

Looking more into it the same is with the 5850 mobility, DDR3/DDR5 is huge perform!
