Nobody can really run it on max settings.  I'm serious.  Those max settings though make a barely-noticeable difference, though, especially for the slow down.

That looks similar to my rig so you should be able to run it on high and have it look awesome at most whatever resolution you want.  Might have a tiny bit of lag in town.  Others might be able to tell you better than I can.

When your high and low settings on the benchmark are about the same, your cpu is holding you back.  If they are different then your video card is holding you back.

The best a duel core can pull in benchmarks is around 2100 max with the best video card, that is on high and low settings.

In game thats 10-12 FPS when its crowded, a little higher around 16-20 when your alone.  If you upgraded to a quad core you would probably get 3-4 times the FPS in game...and pull 3000 high and 5000 low on the benchmark.

I got 1500 on the benchmark and run at 30-60 FPS with everything on high except for AA and all that dumb stuff.  So.. o.o

I have an i5 450 in my laptop with a 5870 and I get between 2800-2900 on the benchmark. The i5 is a duel core.

Nice, apparently there is a difference between a newer duel core and an older duel core.  Probably based on if your duel core runnins DDR 1 , DDR 2, or DDR 3 .

Even that being true, you can not expect any duel core to  do much better then what you are getting, if that was a quad it would greatly increase your score, and quads are not extremely expensive right now.  I got a I5 750 quad, motherboard, 4gb of ram and a good cpu cooler all for less then $500.    If you already got the case, accesories and monitor its not a bad upgrade.

Actually, when I ran the benchmark I noticed it said that I had 4 CPUs even though when I ordered the laptop from newegg it said it was a duel core.

    Cough dual.

    The recommended settings

Note that is windowed and not maxed settings.

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

    Hi Guys.

What sort of game performance should I get from the following specs?

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHZ

    RAM: 4GB

    GFX: XFX NVIDIA 8800GTX 768MB

    HDD: 250GB SATA

    OS: WIndows 7 64-Bit

I've been trying to test with the BETA but the game client doesn't seem to want to download.

    Thanks!

it's really hard to say how bad that bottleneck will be with that 8800GTX.  It's not a bad card, but it is rather dated.  Try the official benchmark.  I'm estimating about a 1800 score, but you wont' know until you try.

I think 1800 is a little bit generous..im going more 1550 or so.  You should really upgrade to a Nvidia 460 if you can and your power supply can handle it, they give good value for your money and you would hit really nice scores.
