Anyhting like this out or in the pipeline?

I'm really interested in finding an MMO with a sci-fi based theme. I find that there are not so many of these around although there seem to be several coming out in the next year or so. The type of gameplay I would like to see I guess would have to end up merging multiple genres into one another.

I'd like to see a universe similar to EVE with that kind of exploration, that feeling of openess & beauty. However of course I'm looking for space combat as well & EVE just doesn't do it for me in that department. Players should be able to buy or craft their own ships, but also have capital ships that served as "guild/clan/corp housing". They could serve as a type of homebase able to carry x amount of player ships & maybe even partake in combat as well with multiple people controlling different aspects of the ship, such as navigation, shields, gunners, resource management etc.

I'd like to see space stations & planet based cities serve as ports of varying size offering different services based on their size & relative remoteness to civilization. These could be areas where you could trade & barter, craft items & be a social hub much like cities, towns, villages & outposts in current games.

I would like a "ground game" to. Looking for sci-fi blasters, laser rifles & such come to mind first as weapons & to pull something like that off I almost feel like shifting player perspective to that of an FPS would be the way to go. I'm not quite sure how melee would be implemented into an FPS with this but it looks like Tera is taking their combat in that direction.

It would also have PvP & PvE available to you, you would have to travel to certain areas to do. Although the insta-queue WoW has implemented is very convenient the minute they did it the game stopped being RPG for most people. I would like to keep that in a game, not because I like to RP, but because I find I care more about my actions with my avatar more & making choices seems more rewarding when it pays off. Both PvP & PvE can take place on the ground or in space & having instances when they combine would be pretty fun IMO. Having the ground team stop reinforcements going out to space or boarding ships to take over or destroy, or having ship combat support the ground with suppressor type actions or dropping off resupplies or reinforcements. I feel like having PvP take care of territorial conflicts & have the victor be able to take advantage of the areas spoils would be incentive to participate. You shouldn't have to PvP to PvE as well although obviously being good at one would help make life easier in the other it wouldn't be a requirement to participate to enjoy both or advance in one or the other.

I also don't want any levels. I would like a game where if you just wanted to enjoy time in space you wouldn't be penalized on your ground avatar. A skill based system seems to work with time or actions determing skill adavncement. EVE has this down I think with having to train certain skills to be able to use certain things, however I'm not a fan of skilling up while you aren't in game, I would like to see & experience the game rather than queue up my skills for the next 24-48 hrs then take off. I feel that model lends itself to a less active player base.

Crafting/manufacturing would play an enormous part in this game. Utilizing mining/gathering capabilities of ships plus using ground based gathering for finer materials & having them work in concert together would be tough to pull off & keep interesting. But I would like to see the majority of  ships, ship based items, & player weaponry be able to be crafted by the palyer base. PvE encounters could provide worthwhile & hard to find schematics, salvage materials & also award weaponry & armor upgrades. Being able to maybe take over a ship or station would award already refined items & materials with utterly blasting it out of the sky leaving you to collect raw salvage materials. Both would prove to be worthwhile & you would decide based on the encounter which would be better & also if you will be skilled enough to accomplish either feat.

Looking back at this it almost seem like I just outlined a game design, but I just got flooded with ideas I would like to see in a game & it went from there. Is there anything remotely like this that has been tried or is in developement or does this idea simply encompass too many genres to be a good game? Could a conglomerate of companies that specialize in each of the genres be able/willing to pull it off?

For the TL;DR. Is there a MMORPG with a sci-fi based theme, space & ground based PvE & PvP content, with robust crafting content happening or has it happened & failed? And if it hasn't happened could anything like this enjoy any type of success?

Still in development, but I can't believe I haven't stumbled across this one before.  If it lives up to the description on infinity-universe's site, this is exactly the game I've been looking for, and it sounds like what OP is looking for, too.

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
