It's not really possible. Although what you can do is transfer things to your retainer and when you transfer them back they'll be on the bottom of your inventory, this could be only very charitably called sorting. Here's hoping they add a better sorting feature later.
I sure hope so. I have OCD as far as an unorganized inventory is concerned >.<.
~Miles "Tails" Prower out! Catch me if you can!
ditto, I love ffxiv but I hope i get a sort feature at some point in a decent time frame. It makes crafting a pain in the rear when you have to hunt through a lot of inventory space to find 4-6 mats. While under your synth support.

My top 3 things that need to be added / fixed immediately:
Inventory management
Item comparison
Attributes and Gear selection defaulting to the "primary weapon" and not one of the "ring fingers". I change weapons constantly. I never change my ring. D-pad left, D-pad left, D-pad left, D-pad left, D-pad up, D-pad up, D-pad up, D-pad up is a bit much everytime I want to change a class.

I would suggest making a macro for changing classes.

Yes, I have done that. I have created macros to change weapons and abilities. The problem I have had is that I could never get the secondary weapon to equip. The command is supposed to be the equivalent of /equip off "Bronze Scythe" but it just doesn't work for me. Everything else would load fine. I would then still have to manually enter my off hand weapon.
Any help would be appreciated as to what I have done wrong. Otherwise, my #4 should be Fix /equip to work for off hand weapons.

I agree completely. I hate having to scroll tons of ore just to change my weapon.

For the good of your sanity, I beg you, learn and become comfortable with the macro system. It removes a considerable amount of toil from operations like this. We've a thread on class switching via macros here.

Macro and one touch to change class and set all skills....

Hey, thanks for the help, but this isn't it. I asked in-game and actually got a reply for once. It is:
/equip sub "Bronze Scythe"
I don't get what sub means, but this works. Where I got my information from said it was "off" without the quotation marks, and I am pretty sure I got the information from either the in-game support or from the SE Beta Test website.

gah i lost my macros on re install
i think i used /equip "off hand" "Bronze scythe"
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
