I am semi-interested in returning with the new expansion, as I'm looking for a new MMO home and quit Aion back at release due to lack of time to play. I still don't have too much time, but I was interested in coming back mostly for the open world pvp. But, I have a few questions:
1. Is the open world pvp worth mentioning? can a casual compete at the level cap?
2. How is the community? is it easy to find friendly people or is it a bunch of flaming like WoW's community?
Thanks in advance.

The abyss is very active for pvp. They have the forts in the abyss and in the new zones of Balaurea set on different timers so at the abyss fort siege times there is a lot of action still.
If you are talking about the rifting between the leveling zones, well, that is almost nothing now. They really nerfed the attack numbers of those who go though rifts so now ganking is pretty much non-existent, The only rifting now done is to try to work on spy quests and even those are pretty rare. Good if you hated the ganking. Bad if you enjoyed being a ganker.
I think the community is much better than WoW in the over all. Flame wars break out in the LFG channel but they are pretty rare. Some people do get an attitude and become almost famous for it. My server, which I wont name, has a high level pvper who thinks he is Aion's gift to the rest of the server. He has the highest abyss ranking in the game so he simply assumes that also gives him the authority to order all the other legions around. Never mind that not every player even wants to pvp significantly. Oh well, I would expect that every server has some kind of a socially retarded leader wanna be. They are easily enough ignored. The point is, a few idiots are out there and you will run into them but it is not nearly as bad as WoW.
All die, so die well.
