Hi all hope you're well.

I used to play SWG all the time in it's glory days before the CU. I was a weaponsmith and had a shop that sold some pretty awesome products. Then the CU hit, the server population plummeted and all the people that used to play and visit all the time disappeared. I then left shortly afterwards and have not been back since.

Now I get a lump in my throat when I see that servers are now being shut down and hear the game is all but dead. Part of me has a sense of loyalty to SWG and it is due to this that I really want to give it one more go before the end.

However it seems virtually everything has changed so I have a few questions that I would like answered before I sign up again.

What is the highest populated EU server?

Is there any RP on this server and if there is where do I find it?

Is crafting pretty much still the same? And if it is do players buy crafted items like they used too? Or is everything just loot driven now?

I here it is all levelling now like WOW, is that all players do now? Is there no doctors selling their buffs anymore? Are there no players outside Corusacant selling their wares?

Does SWG have a future? Will the game end when KOTOR comes out? Do you think there is a SWG 2 in the pipeworks?

Appreciate anyone who answers these questions and maybe hope to see you in game. Any other information that you think would be beneficial would also be appreciated. Thanks again.

Not sure about EU servers/RP.  Try SWG Stratics:  http://stratics.com/stories/swg-galactic-civil-war-and-player-city-statistics-16th-august-2010

Crafting is mostly the same procedure, but I didn't see anywhere near the market for crafted items like it was Pre CU & CU. Now its primarily loot driven, there is no decay, there are no doctors, buffs are now had via a combat class' abilities that don't require any materials - just targeting a character and a button press.  Its all levelling based from level 1-90.

SWG has a future, but I doubt its a very long one unless something miraculous happens (like classic servers).

The game may survive through SWTOR.  But I would put as much faith in SWG2 being developed as I would in buying a multi-million dollar winning lottery ticket.

On a sidenote, I played during PreCU and loved it.  I quit after the CU, and returned twice since.  Once 4 months after NGE was released.  I played for two or three months then.   And again tihs summer for one month.  It was too painful to see what used to be SWG and what its turned into.

    EU Chim for RP.

    EU Farstar for PVP.

Which ever is your main priority.

I got the same story, coming back and leaving a month or two after. Also miss the game immensely.

By my opinion it was the best sandbox ever made, most diverse with spacecombat, real crafting classes and the best ingame economy ive yet seen in an MMO.

Now its just a clone. Removing decay ruined the amazing crafting system which made the game alive. Coming back is like visiting an old ghosttown. Theres the latecomers to the game who havn't seen what it used to be who disagrees. But the game is a mere shadow of its greatness.

Everytime I come back I have some fun for a while but every single time I start missing the good old days.. the friends and the enemies

    Wumi - SWG - Bloodfin - Cancelled
    Wumi - WoW - Eu-Kazzak - Cancelled
    Bulldozer - Aion - Eu-Kahrun - Cancelled
    Wumi - Rift - EU-Riptalon - Cancelled

Its like visiting a discontinued game isnt it?   Thiers games I loved Rouge Spear for example, I thought it was the best, some didnt like it cause it wasnt instant spawn, which takes out realism.    I agree with you that SOE, more likely LA producers made it much more simpler for instant gratification players.   Thats what Restuss was for, You die clone and then your back in the fight in 5 secs.      SWG is a poster child for every bad mistake a gaming company can make.      They built it, turned around and rebuilt it, then decided to rebuild it a third time, mean while people got bored and left.    They also killed the game with mechanics, removing mind, removing decay, killed the game for 30% of the playerbase, then they finally shot the horse with the NGE dumbing down of the entire game made it unplayable for anyone older than 12.
