Ahh so that is the explanation. Thank you Taus I am now happy to know this. I have not bought this game but I intend to in the future and this fact is a welcome info when I play from Europe where I bet the crysta thing will not work. So you all need to verify to use the extra features.
You are welcome. Here is the text from Click and Buy:
"Your ClickandBuy account can be either unverified or verified. After registration each account has the status unverified. A verified ClickandBuy account gives you advantages such as higher spending limits and increased security."
All that rambling about fraud comes from people that did not read the instructions and wondered why CnB took out money from their account. (which gets immediately re-imbursed). The amount is used to verify you are indeed the account holder/CC holder. Its the same as paypal.
As you can see from this easy to obtain information, both services are exactly the same. They both use micro transfers to verify the accounts.
How do I verify my PayPal account?
To verify your PayPal account, follow these steps:
Click the 'Unverified’ link on the Account Overview page
The steps required to verify your account will appear in the table
Depending on your account type, the steps to get ‘Verified’ will be as follows:
Set up bank funding
Provide additional Business information (Premier and Business accounts only)
Set up bank funding
To Set up Bank Funding you must add your UK bank account to your PayPal account. We will then deposit two small amounts into your bank account, which you will need to find on your bank statement. You will then need to log into www.paypal.co.uk and enter the amounts correctly to confirm ownership of your bank account. For more information click here.
HOW DO I VERIFY MY CLICK AND BUY ACCOUNT?
Confirmation process with confirmation code
The confirmation process for bank accounts can be started at various points:
- automatically immediately upon registration with ClickandBuy,
- automatically, directly during the payment process or
- manually by you in your ClickandBuy account (see below).
ClickandBuy immediately transfers the amount of 0.01 EUR to your bank account.
After this test payment has been made (after around 3-5 days), you receive a four-digit ClickandBuy confirmation code, which should be displayed in the payment information area of your bank account statement (see image below).
As soon as you are able to see the four-digit confirmation code on your bank account statement, log back into your ClickandBuy account with your email address registered with ClickandBuy and your password.
Use the tab to switch to the Settings area and click on the menu item Payment methods from the left-hand navigation bar. An overview of your payment methods registered with ClickandBuy should be displayed.
On the right side of your bank account details there is a list of possible activities you can perform for each bank account. Click on the Confirm link next to the bank account you want to have confirmed. A page will be displayed, on which you will be prompted to enter the four-digit confirmation code.
Enter the confirmation code from your bank account statement and click on the Next button.
If the entered confirmation code is correct, the accuracy of your bank account details will have been confirmed with the last step.
The confirmation process is thus completed and your bank account will be considered confirmed.
"Give players systems and tools instead of rails and rules"
For the record, this would be the part I didn't understand: "All you have to do is register and select a payment method through the SE account site and you are done. Took me 3 minutes to set it up. YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO GO TO THE CLICK AND BUY WEBSITE!"
Followed by this in your next post where you insulted my reading comprehension and quite helpfully made my point for me: "Again, i registered, put in my CC, and immediately got cleared. No verification needed at all. My account on Click and Buy shows a registered monthly payment to SE and SE account shows me active account."
So just to be clear, what I didn't understand is where you lied about not even having to go to the Click and Buy website in order to pay for a FFXIV sub using the Click and Buy option. Is that clear enough? What part don't you understand? The part where you made crap up or the part where you contradicted yourself?
I did never go to the website it all ran inside a frame on the SE account site. So where is this contradiction you speak of? I went there after i posted just to check if there is any information that requires me to verify. And it clearly says you only need to do that when you want to use advanced services. So, what now?
Then this must be something new that SE has done, I'm assuming you just recently bought FFXIV and got a sub for it? It would have been much easier to do what you just described than how I had to do it when I subbed at release. Then the only way to do it was to nav to C&B to go through their account setup process, then go back to SE's account site and enter your info there. Although for what its worth I never had to verify my account either.
So I apologize, I'll take you at your word since there's no chance I'll ever be going back to SE's account site to see for myself. I can't believe they didn't have this ready at release. Of course I still wouldn't have lasted more than my 3 days in game, but it would have been one less headache.
I was able to contact C&B to have my account and its info deleted after a few business days.
Good lawdy.....this game just keeps digging itself into a deeper and deeper hole. I've been kind of watching posts here about it and I have to say....unless I was a HUGE FF fan.....I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole at this point. This information here was about the final nail in the casket for any consideration from me.
Square has NEVER had good customer support, their payment methods are garbage and they like to rip off their supporters.
It took years before they changed their FFXI monthly charge setup where people were being dbl charged for one month. The new added security is just added bs,no need for added security,it should be SE problem not ours.IMO a simple 2-3 day wait before transactions go thorugh would eliminate most fraud, during those 3 days they could do a background check on said CC,but i guess they are lazy and cheap, they rather the paying customer jumps through hoops to support them, umm i think they got it wrong, maybe they should be paying us.
BTW i was a HUGE FF fan,and i still won't touch this game, for one Sqaure annoys me beyond no end and the game itself was thrown together by amateurs.I have not once EVER had any problem solved with FFXI without having to spend 30 bucks a call to JPN to talk to support,VERY annoying. They treat EVERY customer like a criminal until you can prove you are not.
I have little to no respect for the 3 biggest developers...SOE/Blizzard/Sqaure all three are crooked and sneaky.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Chill out man. No one is ripping anyone off. As i have posted above, click and buy is the european paypal. There is no difference and no rip off here. I am sorry to say, but it's all in your head.
I have never had any issues with their support. I get into chat support right away and my problem is solved within 5 minutes. I have no idea why in the world you would call Japan and how you even understand what they say, but you sure are confused.
Just go to the chat support. They are very nice and helpfull.
It sounds like you got banned for some reason and thats why you been treated like a criminal. I heard these stories way too often in my 10 years of FF11.
PS: I never once got ripped off, double charged or anything like that. I am using a Credit Card for 10 years now. No issues at all.

Hmmm, strange. I subbed at release (head start) cause i played since Alpha.
The only thing i could think of that might be different is that i am in Europe and they have a different system for us. Would not surprise me since we don't have those prepaid CC or debit CC cards. We only get real CC cards issued over here as far as i know.
"Give players systems and tools instead of rails and rules"
So I activated a ClickandBuy account last night becaues that's what FFXIV is using for their payment method.
Earlier today I received an email with the title message, and no other info, just to contact the company.
I checked my credit card online and there is a $2.50 pending charge from ClickandBuy with plenty of available credit.
I just wanted to see if it was just me, or if anyone else is having trouble with this service?
Talk with S-E about the payment issue, it will work out in your favour.
The last time I played FFXI there was a new payment model in place, whereby people could only pay with credit cards that were VBV (Verified by Visa) or MCSC (Master Card Secure Code) capable. This means that you could only pay with a credit card, not a debit card, because Visa and MC debit cards don't have that feature. I spent no small amount of time on the phone with my credit card issuer before a representative of my credit card issuer told me the above information about debit cards and credit cards. Apparently, S-E either didn't know or didn't deign to tell us...and as we all know using the FFXI 'Knowledge Base' is less than helpful. I explained this to S-E and they took my debit card information over the phone and everything worked out fine, I simply had to go through ridiculous hoops because of illegal RMT (this was the reason S-E implemented this policy).
In a nutshell, S-E has really poor customer service but will do what they can to help you pay for their service. Expect that representatives will not be incredibly knowledgable but they will be incredibly helpful, then you'll be just fine. Don't sweat it!
(1)TL:DR must be your way of saying that thinking hurts. Then again, this may explain why it looks like you responded to the post without using your brain. (2) It's not about community, is it? You just have nothing better to do.
I had the same problem. My bank has ClickandBuy on its "Fraud Table" due to customers claiming fraudulent charges from them previously. I had to go into my bank and request that they lift the block on my bank account so I could use it.
